Methods and apparatus of forming a thermal interface with condensate are described. In an example, a device may be disposed in a test environment or a test apparatus. An amount of condensate may be accumulated on a heat sink to coat the heat sink with a layer of condensate. The coated heat sink may be disposed on the device, where the layer of condensate is directed towards the device, and the disposal of the coated heat sink causes the layer of condensate to spread among voids between the heat sink and the device to form a thermal interface that includes the condensate. A test may be executed on the device with the thermal interface comprising the condensate between the coated heat sink and the device.

A system and method for energy conservation in a virtual universe, the method comprising: determining, at a server, available energy conservation options associated with an avatar of the virtual universe; determining, at the server, selected energy conservation options of the available energy conservation options; and applying, at the server, the selected energy conservation options to portions of the virtual universe associated with the avatar.

Introducing selective energy efficiency in a virtual environment

A heat sink includes a plurality of layers being disposed substantially parallel with a surface of a heat source. The layers include a plurality of pin portions spaced apart from each other in a planar arrangement wherein the pin portions of the layers are stacked and bonded to form pin fins extending in a transverse direction relative to the heat source to sink heat. A compliant layer is disposed between the pin fins and a mechanical load. The compliant layer provides compliance such that the pin fins accommodate dimensional differences when interfacing with the heat source.

A persistent memory storage system and method of operating. The storage system is embodied as memory module (e.g., a DIMM or PCIe card) in a host server and accessible via a first access path to/from the memory module. After a power failure at the host server, any authorized device, e.g., a second server, is configured to access and extract the retained memory at the failed host server via a secondary network-based access path (e.g., Ethernet connection). Power may be supplied to the memory module of the failed host server via a Power-over-Ethernet switch to support the secondary access path. A Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) switch may provide the necessary power to the memory module when power is unavailable from the host server and when any temporary power source is exhausted. A redundant power source and/or backup battery may supply the PoE switch. Such power sources and/or batteries can thereby provide backup power.

Disclosed is a novel solar collecting assembly that in which more than one mirror and/or photovoltaic is linked mechanically so that many mirrors share a few actuators, rather than equipping each mirror with individual actuators. One example includes a set of structures, such as poles or pipes. Each of the support structures has a first end and a second end, and each of the support structures is associated with at least one solar collecting assembly. A first set of cables is arranged to move the solar collecting assemblies in a first direction, each of the first set of cables includes a set of first alignment fittings disposed thereon. The first end of each of the solar collecting assemblies is attached to one of the first alignment fittings in the first set of cables. A second set of cables arranged to move the solar collecting assemblies in a second direction.

In one embodiment, there is a degradation tool, including an identification component configured to count an amount of a plurality of avatars within a region of a virtual universe. The degradation tool further comprises a modification component configured to degrade the appearance of a set of avatars from the plurality of avatars in the virtual universe based on the amount of the plurality of avatars within the region of the virtual universe.

The present invention relates to directed communication between avatars in a virtual environment controlled by end-users from outside the virtual environment. A method in accordance with an embodiment includes: determining a relative location of a first avatar and a second avatar in a virtual environment, wherein at least one end-user of the first avatar and the second avatar wears a headset configured to track head movements thereof, wherein the head movements of the end-user translate to their avatar and influence volume of voice communication from their avatar; adjusting aspects of a voice communication between the first avatar and the second avatar based on the relative location and the track head movements; referring to a list of avatars whose audio characteristics are to be portrayed differently in a voice communication; and further adjusting the audio characteristics of one of the first avatar and the second avatar in accordance with the list.

A seal, fill head, and system are provided. The seal is adapted to cooperate with a fill head that is configured to place conductive bonding material into cavities on a mold. The seal comprises a first outer wall that is configured to abut a first adjacent wall of a support groove in a fill head. A second outer wall is configured to abut a second adjacent wall of a support groove in a fill head. An outer horizontal wall is situated between the first outer wall and the second outer wall. The outer horizontal wall comprises at least a first portion that is configured to abut an upper portion of the support groove. A convex bottom portion extends from the first and second outer walls. The convex bottom portion is configured to cooperate with a top surface of a mold.

A fill head apparatus includes at least one chamber for holding a fluid. The chamber has an outlet for expelling the fluid. A vacuum device has an inlet for a suction device adjacent to the fluid outlet. A plurality of flexible and resilient sealing devices contact a top surface of a workpiece. The sealing devices are positioned on opposing sides of the chamber outlet and on opposing sides of the vacuum device inlet, such that the sealing devices create at least a partial seal around a cavity defined by the workpiece and the cavity is beneath both the chamber outlet and the vacuum outlet.

Defining an active region of a phase change memory (PCM) cell including depositing a first layer of material having a first chemical composition. A second layer of material having a second chemical composition is deposited on top of the first layer of material. An electrical current pulse is applied to locally heat a region of the first layer of material and the second layer of material to cause at least one of an inter-diffusion and a liquid mixing of the first layer of material and the second layer of material. This results in in the PCM cell containing a self-aligned region that includes a phase change material that is a mixture of the first chemical composition and the second chemical composition.
