Circuitry for determining an impedance of an electrochemical cell comprising at least one first electrode and a second electrode, the circuitry comprising: drive circuitry configured to apply a stimulus to the electrochemical cell, the stimulus having a stimulation frequency and a stimulation amplitude; and measurement circuitry configured to: measure an output of the electrochemical cell to generate an output signal; separate the output signal into a linear component and a non-linear component; and determine the impedance of the cell based on the linear component of the response.

The present disclosure relates to driver circuitry for driving a piezoelectric transducer. The circuitry comprises: a power supply; a reservoir capacitance; switch network circuitry; and control circuitry. The control circuitry is configured to control operation of the switch network circuitry so as to charge the reservoir capacitance from the power supply and to transfer charge between the reservoir capacitance and the piezoelectric transducer.

The present disclosure relates to circuitry for performing a multiply-accumulate (MAC) operation. The circuitry comprises a first multiplexer having a plurality of inputs for receiving a plurality of unary-coded input signals representing operands of the MAC operation and an output for outputting a multiplexer output signal representing a result of the MAC operation and a first vector quantizer configured to receive a plurality of weighting signals, each representing a proportion of a computation time period for which a respective one of the unary-coded input signals should be selected by the multiplexer and to output a first selector signal to the multiplexer to cause the multiplexer to select each of the input signals in accordance with the plurality of weighting signals.

The present disclosure relates to switching drivers for driving a transducer. A switching driver () has supply nodes for receiving supply voltages (VSH, VSL) defining at least one input voltage and an output node (). A controller () controls operation of the first switching driver to generate a drive signal for the transducer at the output node (), based on an input signal (Sin). A first capacitor () is connected between first and second capacitor nodes () and a second capacitor () is connected between the second capacitor node () and a third capacitor node (). A network of switches () selectively connects any of the driver output node, the second capacitor node and the third capacitor node to either of a respective pair of said supply nodes, with the first capacitor node connected to the first driver output node.

A method of detecting singing of a user of a personal audio device, the method comprising: receiving a first audio signal comprising bone-conducted speech of the user from a first transducer of the personal audio device; monitoring a second audio signal output to a speaker of the personal audio device; and determining whether the user is singing based on the first audio signal and the second audio signal.

Electrochemical cell characterisation

A sensor on an earpiece is used to attempt to detect a signal corresponding to a heartbeat. If a heartbeat is detected, it can be determined that the earpiece is being worn by a user. The sensor may be an acoustic transducer on a surface of the earpiece that is located within the wearer's ear canal, while the earpiece is being worn normally.

The present disclosure relates to circuitry for driving a piezoelectric transducer. The circuitry may be implemented as an integrated circuit and comprises driver circuitry configured to supply a drive signal to cause the transducer to generate an output signal and active inductor circuitry configured to be coupled with the piezoelectric transducer. The active inductor circuitry may be tuneable to adjust a frequency characteristic of the output signal.

A method of analysis of an audio signal comprises: receiving an audio signal representing speech; extracting first and second components of the audio signal representing first and second acoustic classes of the speech respectively; analyzing the first and second components of the audio signal with models of the first and second acoustic classes of the speech of an enrolled user. Based on the analyzing, information is obtained information about at least one of a channel and noise affecting the audio signal.
