Methods of forming an optical fiber assembly involve placing an adhesive in a ferrule assembly, heating the ferrule assembly through thermal induction, inserting an optical fiber into the ferrule bore during or after the heating step, and securing the optical fiber to the ferrule assembly using the adhesive. The thermal induction causes the adhesive to efficiently take or maintain a melted form to allow the optical fiber insertion.

A distribution cabling tape system comprises a resilient polymeric base sheet having a first major surface and a second major surface, the first major surface being substantially continuous across a side to side width, an adhesive layer disposed on the first major surface, the adhesive layer capable of adhering to a concrete or asphalt surface, and first and second spacer layers arranged in a spaced apart configuration on the adhesive layer to form a continuous lengthwise channel configured to receive at least a portion of at least one distribution cable, each of the first and second spacer layers comprising a second adhesive layer disposed thereon, the second adhesive capable of adhering to a concrete or asphalt surface.

According to exemplary embodiments of the present invention, an adhesive-backed duct having controlled elongation properties is described. The adhesive backed duct has a main body having a conduit portion with a cavity formed longitudinally therethrough, a flange portion having an adhesive backing layer disposed thereon to mount the duct to a mounting surface, and at least one rod-like strength member disposed within and extending longitudinally with the main body of the duct. The at least one rod-like strength member is comprised of a plurality of aligned segments.
