A method for generating adaptive notifications include analyzing, at a user device, a spectrum of environmental noise. A portion of the spectrum for adaptive notification enhancement is selected based on the analyzing the spectrum of environmental noise. An adapted notification is generated at the user device by enhancing the selected portion of the spectrum. The adapted notification is transmitted at the user device.

Generating adaptive notification

A system and method for enhancing a proximity warning sound may determine an indicator of a distance between a first object and a second object. A proximity warning sound may be generated including a reverberation mimicking component responsive to the determined distance indicator; where a human listener perceives the reverberation mimicking component included in the audible proximity warning sound to be indicative of the determined distance indicator.

A method and apparatus for generating an audio notification file for a computing device are provided. A first audio file associated with a first mental state is selected as a first section of the audio notification file. The audio notification file enabled for storage in a memory. The audio notification file is further enabled for processing by a processing unit to control a speaker. A final state of the audio notification file is determined, the final state designated as a final section of the audio notification file, the final state associated with a second mental state. At least one intermediate section of the audio notification file is generated, between the first section and the second section, by morphing the first audio file to the final state by processing the first audio file using a digital signal processor.

Method and apparatus for generating an audio notification file

Audible signals are created and emitted that provide a human user with improved sound localization cues to quickly and efficiently find the emitting device. The different audible signals have been observed to efficiently help a human locate emitting devices that are either in close proximity to the user or that are a large distance from the user. Additionally some examples emit audible signals that have been observed to efficiently help a human locate emitting devices that are located inside a sealed enclosure, such as a box. Some audible signals include audible noise processed by band-pass filters with spectral peaks at about 500 Hz, 4 kHz, and 8 Khz. Such audible signals are alternately emitted in time with audible signals having simultaneously occurring fundamental tone frequencies that each have harmonic components.

Audible signals are created and emitted that provide a human user with improved sound localization cues to quickly and efficiently find the emitting device. Different emitted audible signals are sequentially emitted in response to receiving an activation signal. The different audible signals have been observed to efficiently help a human locate emitting devices that are 1) inside a sealed enclosure, such as a box; 2) in close proximity to the user; and 3) that is a large distance from the user.
