A method and apparatus are set forth for monitoring lamp condition, comprising directing a beam of light at the lamp, detecting percent transmission of the beam through the lamp, wherein the percent transmission is indicative of lamp blackening, and repeating the directing and detecting of the beam of light periodically to provide an indication of lamp blackening over time, wherein the lamp blackening thereby provides an indication of lamp condition over time.

Method and apparatus for monitoring the condition of a projector lamp

A light production system and apparatus for adjusting the uniformity of light is provided. The apparatus comprises a light reducing portion, having an area less than that of an exit of an integrator, for reducing the brightness of a central area of light emitted from the exit. The apparatus further comprises a mounting portion for mounting the light reducing portion in general longitudinal alignment with a center of the exit, the mounting portion enabled to transmit the light emitted from the exit.

Uniform light production system and apparatus

An improved strap design is provided for to reducing edge reflections in tiled video cubes. More particularly, a groove is notched on the outside of the strap into which bonding compound is injected for bonding the screen mounting surface to the video cube. In addition to eliminating edge reflections, the new strap design also provides a clearer bond, without voids and cutting debris trapped between the side strap and clear screen mounting surface. Crazing is also reduced with the new bond, and there is no excessive machining requirement to create the groove in the strap, thereby saving on construction time.

Strap design for tiled rear projection screens

An apparatus for collecting and sensing light in a projector, comprising a cold mirror positioned directly in the incident light path from a lamp and illumination optics of the projector for reflecting a large portion of visible light towards a light imaging device while transmitting IR and UV light and a small portion of the visible light; a secondary mirror for reflecting the small portion of the visible light, an integrating box positioned to collect and integrate the small portion of visible light, a light tube in optical communication with the integrating box for further integrating and attenuating the small portion of visible light, and an electro-optic device within the light tube for measuring the small portion of visible light within the light tube and generating an electrical signal in response thereto.
