In certain embodiments, an ophthalmic system includes an anamorphic depth gauge (ADG) device and a computer. The ADG device measures the z-location in the interior of an eye and includes a detector array arranged at an oblique angle with respect to the z-axis. The array generates a detector signal in response to detecting a light beam, which has a z-focus in the interior of the eye. A set of line focus optical elements focuses the light beam to form a line focus on the detector array, and a set of nominal focus optical elements focuses the light beam to form a nominal focus on the detector array. The computer: generates an image using the detector signal; determines the position of the nominal focus on the line focus according to the image; and determines the z-location of the z-focus from the position of the nominal focus on the line focus.

Anamorphic depth gauge for ophthalmic systems

There is disclosed a labyrinth seal arrangement for gas turboexpanders and the like which reduces process gas losses. The labyrinth seal includes a plurality of axially spaced seal sets with teeth facing a seal member. A plurality of vent ports in between each seal set permits extraction of gradually lower pressure process gas.

Modular broadband light source with lamp insert and methods of use

Systems for measuring optical properties of a specimen are disclosed. The systems are configured to sample signals related to the measurement of the properties of a specimen, and perform software-based coherent detection of the signals to generate resulting measurements are based on the signals acquired at substantially the same time instance. This facilitates the displaying or generating of the desired measurements in real time. In one configuration, the system is configured to direct a modulated light signal at a selected wavelength incident upon a specimen. In another configuration, the system is configured to direct a combined light signal, derived from a plurality of light signals at different wavelengths and modulated with different frequencies, incident upon a specimen. In yet another configuration, the system is configured to direct a plurality of light signals modulated with different frequencies incident upon different regions of a specimen.

Coherently receiving simultaneous optical-based electrical signals

A computer-implemented method for monitoring the effectiveness of advertisements broadcast is described. The method includes detecting that an advertisement has been aired by a broadcast station, monitoring a network for a duration subsequent to the airing of the advertisement for activity attributable to the airing of the advertisement, and developing a quantitative relationship between the activity and a number of listeners of the advertisement.

Estimating off-line advertising impressions

A gas imaging system for remotely detecting gas emissions by passive images of infrared radiation includes an optical system having a field of view. The optical system has a lens, an optical filter system for filtering light passed through the lens, and a photosensitive array located at the focal plane of the optical system to produce multi-spectral infrared image data of a scene under observation. A multi-spectral image processing system is configured for processing the image data produced by the photosensitive array to detect hazardous gas emissions and to discriminate against infrared radiation emitted by false alarm sources. Some embodiments may be configured for flame detection. Other embodiments may be configured for gas and flame detection.
