A cover plate is configured to be releasably connected to a fire protection sprinkler to conceal the fire protection sprinkler. The cover plate includes a first layer of metal on a first side of the cover plate that faces the concealed fire protection sprinkler, and a second layer of metal on a second side of the cover plate, the second side being opposite to the first side. The second layer of metal is bonded to the first layer and is more resistant to corrosion than is the first layer. In addition, the first layer is more thermally conductive than is the second layer. The fire protection sprinkler is configured to activate upon activation of a thermally responsive element. The thermally responsive element is a bulb or a soldered link.

Cover plate and a cover plate assembly for a concealed fire protection sprinkler

A cover plate is configured to be releasably connected to a concealed fire protection sprinkler to conceal the fire protection sprinkler. The cover plate includes a first layer of metal on a first side of the cover plate that faces the concealed fire protection sprinkler, and a second layer of metal on a second side of the cover plate, the second side being opposite to the first side. The second layer of metal is more resistant to corrosion than the first layer, and is bonded to the first layer. In addition, the first layer is more thermally conductive than the second layer.

A fire protection sprinkler includes a body having an inlet end, including a threaded base configured to connect to a fluid supply conduit, an outlet end, and a water passage defined therein. The water passage includes an inlet orifice, provided at the inlet end of the body, an output orifice, provided at the outlet end of the body, and an interior surface formed of a material having a weighted average lead content of 0.25% or less. A seal cap, that moves between a closed position, in which the seal cap seals the output orifice of the water passage, and thereby prevents flow of a fluid from the fluid supply conduit through the output orifice, and an open position, in which the seal cap does not seal the output orifice of the water passage, has water-exposed surfaces formed of a material having a weighted average lead content of 0.25% or less.

Low-lead residential fire protection sprinklers

In one example embodiment, a bracket for a sprinkler fitting is provided having a first flange, a second flange connected to the first flange, and a mounting flange connected to at least one of the first and second flanges. The mounting flange may for example be substantially orthogonal to the first and second flanges. One of the first and second flanges has a preferably circular hole formed therethrough, and the other has a polygonal opening formed therethrough and aligned with the circular hole. An adapter having a polygonal end is inserted in the bracket such that the polygonal end aligns with the polygonal opening so as to limit rotation of the adapter with respect to the bracket, the adapter disposing a sprinkler coupled thereto with respect to a finished ceiling surface of a structure.

Sprinkler fitting bracket

A fire protection sprinkler is provided. The sprinkler includes a body having an output orifice and a flange; a seal cap to seal a flow of fluid from the output orifice; and a thermally-responsive element positioned to releasably retain the seal cap and constructed to separate into a plurality of portions upon exposure to a predetermined temperature. The sprinkler also includes at least one deflector support member, a deflector connected to the deflector support member, and at least one arm extending from each of the deflector support members. Each of the arms has a free end positioned in spaced relation to the thermally-responsive element to contact the portions of the thermally-responsive element upon separation thereof. In another embodiment, the sprinkler includes at least one arm extending from the flange, and the arms may be formed as a bracket.

Lodgment prevention arrangements for fire sprinklers

A pendent residential fire prevention sprinkler has a frame structure extending from the sprinkler body, and a system for blocking an outlet to prevent fluid from passing through the outlet until occurrence of a predetermined condition and for unblocking the outlet in response to occurrence of the condition. A deflector is supported by the frame structure at a predetermined distance from the outlet, at a position to be impinged upon by the fluid leaving the outlet. The deflector has a central portion and a peripheral portion, and slots formed in the periphery, defining tines therebetween. The slots include a first plurality of slots, each of which extends inward from the deflector periphery with a uniform width, a second plurality of slots, each of which has a first portion and a second portion between the deflector periphery and the slot's closed end, where the first portion has a width that varies at different points, while the second portion has a uniform width.

Pendent residential fire protection sprinklers

A selectable detent relief valve of this invention is used to operate a hydraulic detent mechanism on a manually operated spool valve. This design has three modes of operation, no-detent, continuous detent and kick-out detent. The no-detent position allows flow to pass through the relief valve, from a first port to a second port and bypass the relief function. The pressure created, disengages the detent mechanism in the spool valve. The spool always returns to neutral position as long as pressure is present. The continuous detent position blocks the flow from a first port to a second port. The kick-out detent position allows flow to pass from the first port to the second port to override (kick-out) the detent mechanism in the spool when the pressure is greater than 2600 psi.
