The invention is directed to a simple attachment for a surgical bone cutt or osteotomy saw. The invention, consisting of a calibrated T-bar, saw blade holder assemblies, and cooling assemblies, permits two standard surgical saw blades to be attached in parallel to a nitrogen powered surgical reciprocating saw. Thus, a surgeon can make measured, parallel bone cuts in a single motion. The cooling assemblies, pivotally attached to the blade holder assemblies, permit water to be directed down and into the surgical site during the entire cutting operation thereby eliminating bone necrosis and reducing the risk of post-surgical bone morbidity.

The invention is directed to an adjustable mold for use in fabricating bigradable polymeric bone replacements or implants. The invention consists of a box-like structure with two movable plates therein which can be locked into place permitting different size replacements to be fabricated. The interior walls are panels consisting of polytetrafluoroethylene which permit easy removal of a cured bone replacement. The construction and locking means for the movable plates permit the invention to withstand the pressures developed in replacement fabrication as well as to withstand the most commonly used types of sterilization procedures.

A novel bone repair material consisting essential of decalcified freeze-dd bone and biodegradable, biocompatible copolymer has been developed for improving and accelerating the healing of osseous tissue. The bone repair material was prepared by combining decalcified bone with a copolymer consisting essentially of a 50:50 poly(L)(-)lactide co-glycolide.
