A global osteoarthritis knee brace or orthopedic support includes a flexible, elastic sleeve having a tubular shape with a patella opening at an anterior surface with slits on either side of the opening. The brace includes a first pair of rigid longitudinal stiffeners pivoted therebetween at a hinge that is disposed at the lateral or medial side of the sleeve. The brace further includes an adjustable patella support having elongated strips at the ends thereof, wherein the patella support is positioned in the interior of the sleeve proximate with the patella opening, where the elongated strips pass from the interior of the sleeve through the slits to the exterior of the sleeve, and extend upward to be anchored to the sleeve. The wearer pulling on the elongated strips adjusts the patella support to lift the patella.

Global osteoarthritis knee brace

A global osteoarthritis knee brace or orthopedic support includes a flexible, elastic sleeve having a tubular shape with a patella opening at an anterior surface with slits on either side of the opening. The brace includes a first pair of rigid longitudinal stiffeners pivoted therebetween at a hinge that is disposed at the lateral side of the sleeve and likewise at the medial side of the sleeve. The brace further includes an adjustable, flexible patella support having elongated strips at the ends thereof, wherein the patella support is positioned in the interior of the sleeve proximate with the patella opening, where the elongated strips pass from the interior of the sleeve through the slits to the exterior of the sleeve, and extend upward to be adjustably anchored to the sleeve. The wearer pulling on the elongated strips adjusts the patella support.

A wrist-forearm-elbow anti-rotation support system and process that do not require a hardenable material. The system includes an orthopedic support such as a wrist-hand orthosis, wrist-hand-thumb orthosis, joined to a bottle-shaped forearm wrap with opposed flaps formed into a clamshell. Proximal elbow flaps include a center elbow region that extends from the proximal end of the forearm wrap. Attaching straps and/or cross straps extending from the proximal elbow flaps attach to the forearm flaps and may crisscross. Hook and loop fasteners extending from the distal edge of the forearm wrap attach the forearm flaps.

In ankle brace apparatus, the combination comprising a foot and ankle holder having a lower foot portion, and having an upper ankle portion with opposite first and second sides, said upper ankle portion including: a guide loop having opposite sections, a first orthopedic strap anchored to one section for passing about a user's ankle or lower leg, and then passage through the loop to extend in a first tightening direction, a second orthopedic strap anchored to another said section to extend in a second and opposite tightening direction, relative to said ankle or lower leg, whereby the two straps extending in said first and second directions can be manually pulled in said directions to tighten the first strap about said ankle or lower leg, and the two tensioned straps then connected by push together connection to tightened extents of the first strap to hold tension transmission via said loop sections and straps; and support strap structure operatively connected to said holder to extend under said foot portion and then to extend generally upwardly and rearwardly for removable retention to at least one of said opposite sides at a retention zone, or zones.

A tightener for orthopedic use, includes a guide loop having opposite sections, a first orthopedic strap anchored to one section for passing about a user's arm, leg or like member, and then passage through the loop to extend in a first tightening direction, a second orthopedic strap anchored to another loop section to extend in a second and opposite tightening direction, whereby the two straps extending in the first and second directions can be manually pulled in those directions to tighten the first strap about the member, and two tensioned straps can then be connected by push together connection to tightened extents of the first strap to hold tension transmission via the loop sections and straps.

A wrist brace comprising in combination, a flexible holder to receive the user's wrist and having two flaps adapted to be closed toward one another or toward the wrist to secure the holder about the wrist of the user, a carrier flap on the holder, tightening straps associated with the carrier flap, at the straps having end portions anchored by the carrier, loops on a flap to pass the straps, the straps and carrier having connective material thereon, whereby the straps can be pulled and tightened after passing through said loops, to adjustably press-together on the connective material on the carrier.

Reinforced wrist brace with gang connected multiple straps

A wrist brace, comprising a flexible holder to receive the user's wrist and having two flaps adapted to be closed toward one another to secure the holder about the wrist; tightening strands associated with the flaps; a puller connected with all the strands to be pulled to tension the strands as the flaps are moved toward one another, the puller then being adjustably connectible to the holder to adjustably tension all of the strands. A flexible auxiliary strap may be connected to the holder to be adjustably folded over a zone between the user's thumb and forefinger, for adjustable connection to the holder, for firmly anchoring the holder in position on the wrist. The strands may be anchored to an over-flap to be adjustably positioned relative to the puller.

A brace for the wrist of a human hand, comprising in combination, an elongated, flexible, relatively thin sheet having an inner side to receive the underside of the user's wrist, the sheet having first and second flaps to wrap over outer side portions of the user's wrist to envelop the wrist, the sheet consisting of elastomer which is foamed and which is bi-directionally stretchable, a first strap at the inner side of the sheet and locally anchored to the sheet to independently wrap adjacent a portion of the user's wrist and then over a portion of one of the flaps, primary retention elements releasably attach the first strap to said one of the flaps, thereby to initially hold the sheet to the wrist, secondary retention elements to releasably attach the flaps together when the flaps are wrapped at about the wrist to envelop the wrist, and to tension said flaps, thereby secondarily holding the sheet to the wrist and to brace the wrist, whereby dual tensioning of the brace is provided, and a hole through the sheet at a location between the flaps, to receive the thumb of the human hand.

In ankle brace apparatus, the combination comprises a foot and ankle holder having a foot portion, and having an upper ankle portion with opposite first and second sides; support strap structure operatively connected to a holder to extend under foot portion and then to extend generally upwardly and rearwardly for retention to those opposite sides at retention zones; and retention flaps connected to the holder and extending forwardly to overlap support strap structure at retention zones, the retention flaps spaced apart to provide freely adjustable and conforming cushioning at the rear of the holder.
