A transparent radiation shield, attachable to a patient support platform, and movable to shield a physician from imaging radiation, includes a transparent computer display that is controllable to provide a data overlay on the shield pertaining to patient data and/or x-ray images.

Display device for reducing radiation exposure to medical personnel

An implantable device for reducing pulsatile pressure within a blood vessel is described herein, for example to treat pulmonary hypertension. The implantable device may include a fluid reservoir, a compliant member (e.g., a balloon), and a conduit coupled to the fluid reservoir and the compliant member. Advanced designs for anchoring the compliant member in the blood vessel are described. In addition, enhanced reservoir, conduit, and balloon designs, as well as methods for implanting/using the same, are provided.

Implantable devices for reducing pulsatile pressure within a blood vessel

The implantable device includes a balloon implantable within a blood vessel of a patient, e.g., the pulmonary artery. The balloon is injected with a fluid mixture comprising a constituent fluid(s) and a diffusion-resistant gas to provide optimal balloon volume and limit fluid diffusion throughout multiple cardiac cycles. The fluid mixture may be pressurized such that the balloon is transitionable between an expanded state and a collapsed state responsive to pressure fluctuations in the blood vessel.

A delivery device usable to deliver an inverting implant is provided that includes a positioning mechanism that automatically initiates the inversion process once a predetermined length of the implant has exited a delivery catheter. Diffusion resistant implantable devices for reducing pulsatile pressure

A stentless support structure capable of being at least partly assembled in situ. The support structure comprises a braided tube that is very flexible and, when elongated, becomes very long and very small in diameter, thereby being capable of placement within a small diameter catheter. The support structure is preferably constructed of one or more thin strands of a super-elastic or shape memory material such as Nitinol. When released from the catheter, the support structure folds itself into a longitudinally compact configuration. The support structure thus gains significant strength as the number of folds increase. This radial strength obviates the need for a support stent. The support structure may include attachment points for a prosthetic valve.
