A compressor assembly is provided and may include a first compression cylinder, a first compression piston disposed within the first compression cylinder that compresses a vapor disposed within the first compression cylinder, and a crankshaft that cycles the first compression piston within the first compression cylinder. The compressor assembly may additionally include a first control piston moveable between a first state restricting passage of intermediate-pressure fluid into the first compression cylinder and a second state permitting passage of intermediate-pressure fluid into the first compression cylinder.

Reciprocating compressor with vapor injection system

A compressor may include a compression cylinder, a compression piston, a crankshaft, an injection bore, a position sensor, and a valve assembly. The compression piston is disposed within the compression cylinder and is operable to compress a vapor disposed within the compression cylinder from a suction pressure to a discharge pressure. The crankshaft is operable to cycle the compression piston within the compression cylinder. The injection bore may be in fluid communication with the compression cylinder and may be operable to selectively communicate intermediate-pressure vapor at a pressure between the suction pressure and said discharge pressure to the compression cylinder. The position sensor may measure a rotational position of the crankshaft. The valve assembly may be associated with the injection bore. The valve assembly may be operable to control passage of fluid from the injection bore into the compression cylinder in response to data provided by the position sensor.

A compressor may include a compressor body and a discharge valve assembly coupled to the compressor body. The discharge valve assembly directs discharge gas from the compressor body and between a valve plate and a valve retainer. The discharge valve assembly may include at least one reed valve assembly including a first support guide member, a second support guide member, and a reed assembly. The reed assembly may include a reed and a spring washer disposed between the first and the second support guide members.

Discharge valve for reciprocating compressor having inner and outer flow areas

A compressor may include a compressor housing, an oil sump, an intake chamber, a compression mechanism, a drive shaft, and a first oil passage. The oil sump may be in communication with the compression mechanism. The intake chamber may be defined within the housing. The drive shaft may include first and second ends with an oil inlet passage located therebetween. The first end may be disposed within the intake chamber and may be drivingly engaged with the compression mechanism. The second end may extend outside of the housing for driven engagement external to the housing. The oil inlet passage may be located within the intake chamber. The first oil passage may be disposed within the housing and in communication with the oil sump and the oil inlet passage.

Open drive scroll compressor with lubrication system

A horizontal scroll-type compressor utilizes the pressure differential between the discharge pressure and the suction pressure to route lubricant from the discharge chamber to the components within the intake chamber. The compressor may utilize a lubricant separator within the discharge chamber to separate the working fluid from the lubricant prior to the working fluid exiting the compressor. The compressor may use an internal passageway that extends from the discharge chamber to a position adjacent the crankshaft to provide lubricant to the internal lubricant passage within the crankshaft.

Horizontal scroll compressor

A scroll machine is powered by a brushless permanent magnet motor. The rotor for the motor includes a rotor body formed by a plurality of laminations and an upper and lower counterweight made of zinc and located at opposite ends of the rotor body. An attachment member extends through the counterweights and the rotor body to secure the counterweights and the plurality of laminations. The counterweights include steel inserts which cooperate with the attachment member to provide a metal to metal clamping for the rotor body with a steel connection being maintained through the rotor.

Scroll machine with brushless permanent magnet motor

A scroll-type compressor is provided in an inclined or inverted position with an oil sump disposed adjacent to a gas inlet of the scroll wraps to allow droplets of oil to be entrained in the gas being compressed so that the oil droplets in the gas can cool the scroll wraps. An oil injection fitting also extends through the compressor shell and communicates lubricating oil to a lubrication passage in the crankshaft for providing lubricant to the bearings of the crankshaft of the compressor and other components. The oil injection fitting is supplied with lubricant from an externally disposed source.

A horizontal scroll-type compressor is provided with an oil injection fitting that extends through the compressor shell and communicates lubricating oil to a lubrication passage in the crankshaft for providing lubricant to the compressor and other components. The oil injection fitting is supplied with lubricant from an externally disposed source.

A refrigeration motor compressor assembly has a housing including a lubricant sump in the bottom thereof into which the lower end of the drive shaft and associated rotor extend. A shield is provided which is positioned by the drive shaft and extends above the oil level in the sump in surrounding spaced relationship to the lower end of the rotor. As the rotor rotates within the shield, lubricant contained therein is thrown out of the surrounding shield and a close fit between the shield and the shaft restricts return flow of lubricant into the area occupied by the rotating rotor.

Refrigeration compressor

An open drive scroll compressor had a unique lubrication system which includes a vane type oil pump attached to an outer diameter of the drive shaft of the compressor. The oil pump draws oil from an oil sump, sends a first portion of the oil to the components of the compressor needing lubrication and a second portion through a filter. The return to the sump from the filter is restricted to control oil pressure and thus the amount of circulated oil. The scroll compressor includes a first baffle between the oil sump and a counterweight attached to the drive shaft and a second baffle disposed between the scroll members and the oil sump.

Open drive scroll machine

A scroll type machine is disclosed which incorporates an improved mounting arrangement for the non-orbiting scroll member which mounting arrangement greatly facilitates manufacturing and assembly, effectively prevents radial displacement of the non-orbiting scroll member, and offers the advantages of axial compliance. In one embodiment, the non-orbiting scroll is axially movably secured to a bearing housing by means of a plurality of bolts or bolts and sleeves. In another embodiment a rigid annular ring serves to axially movably secure the non-orbiting scroll to the bearing housing while in a third embodiment a stamped ring is secured to both the non-orbiting scroll and the bearing housing. In another embodiment a two piece main bearing housing includes an integral ring for radially positioning the non-orbiting scroll member and means for securing anti-rotation and axial stop means thereto. In yet another embodiment, a bayonet-type axially compliant mounting arrangement is provided for the non-orbiting scroll which provides integral stop means. Additionally, notches may be provided to isolate the mounting flanges of the two piece main bearing from the integral guide ring to avoid possible distortion thereof. A method of assembling and/or testing the compressor is also disclosed.

Non-orbiting scroll mounting arrangements for a scroll machine

A tandem compressor mounting system has a set of four elastomeric grommets for mounting each of the compressors to a pair of common rails. Each of the elastomeric grommets is secured to a mounting plate located on each of the two compressors and are disposed between the mounting plates and the common rails. Each of the two sets of elastomeric grommets are made from 65 durometer neoprene. A third set of four elastomeric grommets, two for each of the common rails, is disposed between the common rails and a generally horizontal mounting surface. Each of the third set of elastomeric grommets is made from 40 durometer neoprene.
