An electrical discharge machining (EDM) assembly includes a mounting device that is configured to support an EDM electrode relative to a work piece. The electrode includes an axial opening that extends between opposed ends of the electrode, a first portion that includes one end and a second portion that includes the opposed end. The flexibility of the first portion is greater than that of the second portion. For example, the first portion may be a helical spring and the second portion may be a rigid tube. The mounting device includes a back plate, an upright portion that protrudes from the back plate and a curved sleeve disposed in a through hole that extends through the back plate and the upright portion. The electrode is movably disposed in the sleeve.

Electrical discharge machining assembly including electrode

A connection assembly is used to connect a first body to a second body. The first body includes a bore that is coaxial with a first axis, and a retainer opening that extends coaxially with a second axis. The second axis is perpendicular to the first axis and offset relative to the first axis. In addition, a portion of the retainer opening intersects the bore. The second body includes an insertion portion that is disposed in the bore, a fluid passage that extends through the insertion portion and communicates with the bore, and an outer surface of the second body has a channel. The connection assembly employs an elastic retaining pin that retains the insertion portion within the bore. The retaining pin is disposed in the retainer opening such that a portion of the retaining pin resides in the channel, and the retaining pin is self-aligning and self-retaining.

Fitting connection assembly for a fluid delivery system

A fuel injector cup includes a body having a first opening configured to receive fuel into the body and a second opening configured to receive a fuel injector for dispensing fuel. The cup further includes a mounting flange coupled with the body and extending therefrom, the mounting flange configured to be connected to a support surface to secure the cup to the support surface. The cup also includes a locating member coupled with at least one of the body or the mounting flange, the anti-rotation member configured to engage the fuel injector when received in the body and to orient and prevent rotation of the fuel injector relative to the body.

Fluid injector mounting cup

A monolithic fuel rail structure is configured to receive and support a fuel injector, and includes a log, an injector cup that protrudes integrally from an outer surface of the log, and a fuel passage. An inner surface of the log defines a main fuel channel, and the injector cup includes a bore that opens at one end of the injector cup. An inlet end of the fuel injector is received in the bore. The fuel passage provides fluid communication between the bore and the main fuel channel, and the fuel passage corresponds to a portion of a hole that extends through the injector cup on each of opposed sides of the injector cup.

Monolithic fuel rail structure and method of manufacture

A connection assembly is used to detachably connect fuel injector to an injector cup of a fuel rail. The connection assembly includes the injector cup that receives and supports the fuel injector, a pair of retaining pins that an configured to retain an inlet end of the fuel injector within a bore of the injector cup, and a retaining clip that retains the retaining pins in corresponding through holes provided in the injector cup. The retaining clip is C-shaped and partially encircles the injector cup such that a first end of the retaining clip extends into the through hole that receives the first pin, the second end of the retaining clip extends into the through hole that receives the second pin. The retaining clip is configured to prevent the pins from exiting the respective through holes and minimize assembly noise.

A fluid damper includes a body defining a fluid chamber and a first opening. The body is formed by a first cover and a second cover joined along an axial direction. A damping device is suspended inside the fluid chamber to damp pressure pulsations. The damping device is constrained by a peripheral edge. The damping device divides the fluid chamber into first and second sub-chambers. The first cover has a first wall portion into which a second wall portion of the second cover is received. A hermetic seal is formed between the first and second wall portions. The second cover has a terminal edge lying within the first wall portion of the first cover, the terminal edge being segmented into a plurality of fingers that cooperate with a ledge surface of the first cover to pinch the peripheral edge of the damping device.

Fluid damper

A fuel injection system includes a fuel rail, and a damper that is disposed inside the fuel rail. The damper includes outwardly protruding first barbs formed integrally on one end of the damper and outwardly protruding second barbs formed integrally on an opposed end of the damper. The first barbs and the second barbs each engage the fuel rail inner surface, whereby the damper is located and retained within the fuel rail. The first barbs and the second barbs may be generally triangular in profile and each extend at an acute angle relative to the damper longitudinal axis. In addition, the first barbs and the second barbs are each oriented in the same direction relative to the longitudinal direction, whereby the damper is asymmetric when viewed in side view.

Fuel rail damper with locating features

A system and method for verifying a connection between a first and second connector. The system includes a transducer and a processor. The processor is configured to determine a velocity of the first connector when the first connector is moved to the second connector to form a coupling, calculate a time interval to the coupling based on the velocity detected at the set point and a position of the second connector, and receive, from the transducer, a signal during the time interval. The signal includes the sound generated when the coupling is formed. The processor analyzes the signal and identifies the sound of the coupling within the signal. The signal is filtered in the frequency domain and in the time domain, resulting in a filtered spectrogram. The spectrogram is compared to a pattern. The processor determines if the first and second connector are properly coupled based on the comparison.

Closure detection system

A method and system of testing a tightness of a closed container using a two-part test. The first part of the two-part test includes connecting the closed container to a gas supply and filing the closed container with a testing gas from the gas supply. A first leak rate of the closed container is measured over a first period of time, and when the first leak rate is less than a first threshold, the controller identifies the closed container as compliant. Conversely, when the first leak rate is greater than the first threshold, the controller measures a second leak rate of the closed container over a second period of time. When the second leak rate is greater than a second threshold, the controller identifies the closed container as noncompliant, and when the second leak rate is less than the second threshold, the controller identifies the closed container as compliant.

Test methodology to reduce false rejections and increase number of containers tested for tightness

A fuel rail includes an elongated tube having an inlet and a plurality of outlets. The elongated tube defines a fuel passageway for directing fuel toward the plurality of outlets. The fuel rail also includes a plurality of immovable baffles positioned within the elongated tube to divide the fuel passageway into a plurality of chambers such that each outlet is positioned in one of the plurality of chambers. The plurality of baffles restricts fluid flow between adjacent chambers. A majority of the plurality of outlets are located essentially at an acoustic node of each corresponding chamber to reduce noise generated by the fuel rail.

Fuel rail for attenuating radiated noise

An apparatus for determining an amount of rotation of a rotatable component that rotates with respect to a stationary component. The apparatus includes a cable with a first end fixed to the rotatable component and a second end fixed to the stationary component. The cable, which supports a sensing element, is configured to wind or unwind when the rotatable component rotates with respect to the stationary component. The sensing element extends along a length of the cable and is configured to flex in response to the winding or unwinding of the cable. The sensing element has a resistance that changes in response to flexion of the sensing element. An evaluation circuit is connected to the sensing element and is configured to determine a value having a relation to the resistance and determine the amount of rotation based on the value.

Steering angle sensor

A fuel rail includes an elongated tube having an inlet and a plurality of outlets. The elongated tube defines a fuel passageway for directing fuel toward the plurality of outlets. The fuel rail also includes a plurality of baffles positioned within the elongated tube to divide the fuel passageway into a plurality of chambers such that each outlet is positioned in one of the plurality of chambers. The plurality of baffles restricts fluid flow between adjacent chambers. A majority of the plurality of outlets are located essentially at an acoustic node of each corresponding chamber to reduce noise generated by the fuel rail.

A method of manufacturing a hermetically sealed electrical connection is provided. The method includes providing an electrically conductive wire, surrounding the electrically conductive wire with a metal layer, providing an insulating layer between the metal layer and the electrically conductive wire, and applying a magnetically-induced compressive force to the metal layer such that the metal layer is compressed against the insulating layer and the insulating layer is compressed against the electrically conductive wire to form a hermetic seal between the metal layer and the conductive wire while maintaining the insulating layer therebetween.

A fuel injection system includes a fuel supply rail, a fuel injector configured to control the delivery of fuel from the fuel supply rail, and a noise filtering device engaging an upstream end of the fuel injector and/or positioned at least partially within the fuel injector. The noise filtering device defines a fuel passage configured to direct fuel from the fuel supply rail into the fuel injector. The noise filtering device can include one or more of several features including a pocket, a wrap-around shape to conform to the inlet end of the fuel injector, a face-sealing portion, a compression section, and a plurality of parallel restriction passages.

It includes a first part having a first side including a plurality of integrally formed first connectors and a second side arranged and configured to receive at least one of a fuse and/or a relay. A second part has a first side arranged and configured to receive at least one external connector and a second side having a plurality of integrally formed second connectors. At least one intermediate part is disposed between the first part and the second part. It has a first side including a plurality of integrally formed first interconnecting means for engaging the first connectors of the first part, and a second side having a plurality of integrally formed second interconnecting means for engaging the second connectors of the second part.
