Valves useful in vacuum compression storage bags are described. The valve includes a check valve, a carrier film having adhesive on a surface thereof, and a plastic stand-off with projecting protrusions. The check valve, carrier film and stand-off each have an opening therethrough which when affixed together align to provide a passageway through the valve. When used with a vacuum compression storage bag, the valve is aligned with a hole through a wall of the bag to provide an air flow passageway through the aligned holes from the interior of the bag through the valve when vacuum force is applied over the valve and the bag sealed. The stand-off extends inside the bag to prevent contents therein from blocking air flow from inside the bag through the valve during vacuum evacuation of air from the bag. The stand-off has a rigidity to prevent collapse of the valve under vacuum force.

A pouch comprises a first sidewall and a second sidewall forming an interior space therebetween, a resealable closure mechanism including a first and a second elongate closure profile, and a resilient profile extending from one of the first or second closure profiles and having at least one notch extending therethrough to allow the evacuation of air from the interior space.

A venting closure mechanism for a pouch includes first and second closure profiles that interlock and third and fourth closure profiles that interlock. A sealing flap extends from the first closure element between the first and third closure profiles and engages the second closure element to form a releasable gastight seal therebetween. When the first and second closure elements are occluded, a first plurality of longitudinally spaced first exhaust channels is disposed on a product-side of the sealing flap and a second plurality of longitudinally spaced second exhaust channels is disposed on a user-side of the sealing flap. A first pouch sidewall is attached to the first closure element at an exterior surface thereof between a user-side edge of the first closure element and the sealing flap. An interior surface of the first pouch sidewall is textured with a pattern that provides flow channels therealong.

Venting closure mechanism

A storage bag having a recloseable mouth, which is biased into an open configuration, is disclosed. The bag, typically manufactured from thermoplastic material such as low-density polyethylene, includes first and second adjacent layers joined or folded along bottom and side edges. The top edges are not folded or permanently joined, but are provided with closure members such as mating male and female zipper strips. The bag is further provided with structure to bias the top edges apart from one another thus biasing the mouth of the bag into an open configuration. The closure members are sufficiently strong to overcome the force of the biasing structure and thereby hold the bag closed when the closure members are engaged. However, upon disengagement of the closure members the biasing structure forces the bag top edges apart to thereby place the bag into an open mouth configuration.

A recloseable storage bag is disclosed which may include first and second sides having closed sides and an open top. Primary closure members may be provided proximate the top, with a secondary closure element being provided in one of the sides to enable gas to be evacuated from the bag after the primary closure members are closed. The secondary closure member may further include the ability to prevent liquid from exiting the bag therethrough.

A reclosable fastener assembly comprising two profile strips with interlocking hooks, with a pair of handles positioned along the length of the outer surface of the second fastener strip, the handles adapted to cooperate with the second profile, such that when the handles are squeezed together, the hooks of the second profile disengage with the hooks of the first profile to open the fastener assembly. A slider moves along the fastening strips in straddling relation, the slider including means for squeezing the handles together as the slider moves toward the open position so that the profiles disengage. The profiles reengage when the slider moves in the reverse direction. Also disclosed are the slider and the closure.

Disclosed is a zipper for a reclosable thermoplastic bag having opposing rib and groove profiles wherein at least one of the opposing zipper profiles has an longitudinally extending part interlockable and substantially free of interdigitation with the opposing profile and wherein the part is structurally discontinuous along its length. When the rib and groove profiles are interlocked, an audible clicking sound and/or a vibratory or bumpy feel perceptible to the touch is imparted. Further disclosed is a process and apparatus for making the zipper wherein a zipper profile is extruded and indentions are formed within and along it.
