An ion source is disclosed incorporating various aspects of the invention including i) a vaporizer, ii) a vaporizer valve, iii) a gas feed, iv) an ionization chamber, v) an electron gun, vi) a cooled mounting frame, and vii) an ion exit aperture. The ion source includes means for introducing gaseous feed material into the ionization chamber, means for vaporizing solid feed materials and introducing their vapors into the ionization chamber, means for ionizing the introduced gaseous feed materials within the ionization chamber, and means for extracting the ions thus produced from an ion exit aperture adjacent to the ionization region. In addition, means for accelerating and focusing the exiting ions are provided. The vaporizer, vaporizer valve, gas feed, ionization chamber, electron gun, cooled mounting frame, and ion exit aperture are all integrated into a single assembly in preferred embodiments of the novel ion source.

Ion implantation ion source, system and method

An ion implantation device for vaporizing decaborane and other heat-sensitive materials via a novel vaporizer and vapor delivery system and delivering a controlled, low-pressure drop flow of vapors, e.g. decaborane, into the ion source. The ion implantation device includes an ion source which can operate without an arc plasma, which can improve the emittance properties and the purity of the beam and without a strong applied magnetic field, which can improve the emittance properties of the beam. The ion source is configured so that it can be retrofit into the ion source design space of an existing Bernas source-based ion implanters and the like or otherwise enabling compatibility with other ion source designs.

An ion source for an ion implantation system includes a vaporizer for producing a process gas; an electron source for generating an electron beam to ionize the process gas within a ionization chamber. The ionization chamber includes an extraction aperture for extracting an ion beam. The ion source, in accordance with the preset invention, is configured to be able to be retrofit into the design space of existing ion sources in, for example, Bernas source-based ion implanters.

A support for a predetermined container having a rim e.g. at its top opening, the support comprising a lid or a supporting ring, constructed to interfit e.g. with the rim of the container, wherein there is a suspender, formed with the lid or supporting ring and deflectable from an as-formed position to an upstanding position in which it is capable of carrying weight of the container. In most cases suspenders extend inwardly of a rim of the lid or supporting ring. Free-ended flexible finger suspenders of synthetic resin, are shown, formed integrally with the lid or supporting ring as a molded unit. The lids or rings are associated with closure surfaces, such as closure portions molded with the lid or ring, closure inserts, or closure films or foils on the container itself. The suspenders are useful to the consumer in enabling improved carrying of the merchandise with other items or in intertwined fusion with the like items, and to the storekeeper in suspending merchandise. Combinations of the lids or supporting rings with containers containing prepackaged food, tennis balls and other contents, are displayed by storekeepers from hooks and racks, in many cases hanging at a substantial tilt angle for better visibility and utilization of stocking space.

Suspended containers

It has now been discovered that certain mutant forms of pro-urokinase ('pro-UK'), such as so-called pro-UK mutant 'M5' (Lys&#x2192;His), perform in the manner of pro-UK in lysing &#x201c;bad&#x201d; blood clots (those clots that occlude blood vessels), while sparing hemostatic fibrin in the so-called &#x201c;good&#x201d; blood clots (those clots that seal wounds, e.g., after surgery or other tissue injury). Thus, these pro-UK mutants are excellent and safe thrombolytic agents. These advantages allow them to be used in a variety of new methods, devices, and compositions useful for thrombolysis and treating various cardiovascular disorders in clinical situations where administration of other known thrombolytic agents has been too risky or even contraindicated.

Methods, devices, and compositions for lysis of occlusive blood clots while sparing wound sealing clots

Anesthetizing plastics, drug delivery plastics, and related medical products, systems and methods

A drug delivery system comprising propathenone or lidocaine dissolved in thermoplastic resin is shown to be useful for prolonged release antiahrrythmia medications. More generally, a compound with topical anesthetic and plasticizing properties, or another drug having a similar structures containing an aromatic ring, is dissolved in polymeric material. Extrusion, co-extrusion, coating and diffusion techniques to form orally digestible granules, fibers, films and tubes such as endotracheal tubes, drainage tubes and other medical devices with the material containing drug are disclosed. Diffusion techniques in which the drug diffuses into the thermoplastic is also disclosed. A hydrophobic anesthetic or similar compound such as the base form of lidocaine or propathenone is used which is more soluble in the polymeric material than in water. Prilocaine base and dibucaine base are also used in examples. A water soluble form of the drug, achievable by reacting the base form of the drug dissolved in the polymer, is provided, e.g. at an exposed surface, to enable rapid onset of anesthesia or dosage. Balloons, films and extruded cross sections are shown. Barrier and metering layers control the direction and rate of application of the anesthetic or drug. Compresses and wound dressings containing thermoplastic constituents in which a drug is dissolved provide prolonged administration of anesthetics and other drugs. An ointment or other fluid containing an ionic surfactant assists the transfer of the drug from the thermoplastic to the body.
