An imaging device comprising a flexible sensor attached to a control case. The flexible sensor provides both a source of illumination to the image being captured and a method of capturing the image. The method of capture comprises a field of reactors disbursed across the facial area of the sensor, the output of which produces a dot-pattern capture of the intended image which is passed to a storage device.

In a reel with a spool a hood and an axially aligned and substantially cup-shaped rotor partially encircling the spool, a molded monocoque frame rotor design in which the monocoque frame is molded to include various features of the rotor and in which the leading and trailing edges of the rotor are of a material substantially different from the monocoque frame.

The present fishing reel is comprised of a reel body for attaching to a fishing pole. A main shaft is positioned in the body and project out the front of the body. A spool is positioned around the front or outer end of the main shaft. A rotor is positioned around the main shaft behind the spool and is rotatable about the shaft. A pinion gear is positioned within the body around the inner end of the main shaft and is rotatable independently about the shaft. The pinion gear is fixedly connected to the rotor through a sleeve around the main shaft for simultaneous rotation. A drive gear is positioned outside the body behind the rotor and coaxial with the sleeve. The drive gear is also rotationally fixed relative to the rotor and sleeve. A lead screw is positioned in the body parallel to the main shaft. A lead screw gear is fixedly attached to a forward end of the lead screw. The lead screw gear is engaged with and driven by the drive gear. An oscillation block has a first end slidably connected to the lead screw, and a second end fixedly attached to the inner end of the main shaft. The pinion gear is driven by a main gear which is driven by a crank handle. The drive gear is preferably larger than the pinion gear for driving the lead screw at higher speed for faster spool oscillation to produce a larger crosswind angle in the fishing line.

A unitary fishing rod with integral features is described. Integral features, such as, raised or recessed surface details, both raised and recessed surface detail, circular or non-circular cross-sectional shapes, raised rod guide mounting portion, multiple axes of alignment, distinct handle gripping means, one or more internal ribs, solid tip piece, and ferrules are formed by the use of a mold where the mold's interior surfaces define the integral features, the shape and surface detail, of the unitary fishing rod.

A fishing reel drag mechanism includes a spool for a fishing line, a brake drum attached coaxially to the spool, and a resilient circular brake shoe positioned inside the brake drum. The outer diameter of the brake shoe is slightly smaller than the inner diameter of the brake drum. A gap is provided on the brake shoe, and a movable spreader is positioned in the gap. When the spreader is moved to a first position, the brake shoe is in a relaxed position spaced from the brake drum, so that the spool may rotate with zero drag. When the spreader is gradually moved to a second position, the gap is gradually expanded by the spreader, and the brake shoe is gradually expanded against the brake drum. The drag on the brake drum is thus adjusted by changing the width of the gap with the spreader. Grooves arranged concentrically around the brake shoe provide additional compliance which improves smoothness in drag application and the range of drag force provided. A pawl may be selectively moved into engagement with ratchet teeth around the spool to positively lock the spool in position when desired.

The present invention provides an improved spinning reel having a reel body of unitary sidewall construction. More specifically, the present invention provides a spinning reel having a reel body of unitary sidewall construction with a front or a back opening and an associated plate that removably attaches to the reel body opening to thereby enclose and hold the internal mechanisms and parts of the spinning reel. The use of the present invention allows a fisherman to substantially assemble and/or disassemble the spinning reel of the invention without the aid of tools, such as screwdrivers, wrenches, and the like.

The present invention provides an improved fishing reel rotor-mounted bail system. More specifically, the present invention provides a bail system wherein a tension spring is pivotally inserted at a first end to a rotor arm and at a second end to a bail banjo or bail hinge such that the tension spring applies a tensile force or moment to the bail banjo or hinge thereby biasing the bail mechanism in either the open or closed position. More specifically, the present invention provides a fishing reel having an improved tension bail mechanism, comprising a bail wire assembly pivotable relative to first and second rotor arms between a first closed retrieving position and a second open casting position, and a bail wire assembly bias mechanism, comprising a bail spring, where the first end of the bail spring attaches to a rotor arm, and the second end of the bail spring attaches to the bail banjo or the bail hinge such that the bail spring applies a tensile moment to the bail banjo or hinge thereby biasing the bail wire assembly in either the first closed position or the second open position. There are two embodiments of the present invention wherein the spring biasing and bail trip members are located in the same rotor arm to reduce the rotational balance problems associated with the prior art.

An anti-reverse mechanism that is adaptable to have application in a majority of conventional fishing reel designs and configurations. More particularly, a coil-spring, anti-reverse mechanism that acts upon certain standard components of a drive train in a conventional fishing reel, including the main gear, rotor and pinion. In preferred embodiments, the anti-reverse mechanism of the present invention may further include an On/Off selector assembly for selectively engaging the anti-reverse mechanism.

A fishing reel oscillation system having a rotating pawl oscillation assembly whose components are integrated into a standard fishing reel mechanism wherein a pawl attached to a pinion rotates around a main shaft with a lead-screw recess track, causing the shaft and an attached spool to oscillate along the rotational axis of the spool. The pinion is also coupled to a rotor. In this manner, one integrated mechanism effects both the oscillation of the spool and the spinning of the rotor.

An improved fishing reel with a main shaft support system that holds the main shaft in reduced frictional isolation from the pinion. More specifically, a radial support members to hold the main shaft concentric to the pinion and frictionally isolated therefrom. This system thus reduces the friction between a main shaft and a pinion to yield a more efficient fishing reel. A method is further provided to retrofit conventional fishing reels with the isolation support system of the present invention.

An integrated handle fishing reel housing for enclosing a fishing reel and providing a handle for manual grasping of the reel and an associated rod. The inventive device includes a handle housing having a forward or nosecone portion and a body or handle portion. The forward portion and the body portions are axially aligned along a common axis, and have a generally circular diameter in cross section, along the common axis. A reel is mounted within the handle housing and directs a fishing line through a forward center end of the forward portion. The body portion of the handle housing projects rearwardly of the forward portion. If desired, the body portion may be shaped so as to define a reduced gripping recess extending circumferentially thereabout to preclude unintentional slipping of the handle housing from a grasp of a user. The disclosed integrated handle fishing reel housings may be made in a variety of shapes, including the shapes of bottles, cans, some buildings, foods, plants, animal and human figures, and cartoon characters.
