An audio/video recording and communication device configured as a doorbell has a housing with a support structure and a removable faceplate. A flexible translucent membrane of the faceplate supports a button aligned with a mechanical switch when the removable faceplate is attached to the housing such that a plurality of light emitting elements are positioned around the mechanical switch transmit light through the translucent membrane. A removable battery casing is configured to hold at least one battery and has a release button physically coupling with a detent of the support structure to retain the removable battery casing within the support structure. The removable battery casing may be removed from the device for recharging without removing the device from a surface on which it is mounted.

Audio/video recording and communication devices

A garage door is controlled to open using an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device. The device detects a vehicle within an area about the garage door and receives, using a camera, image data representative of an object associated with the vehicle. The device also compares the image data representative of the object associated with the vehicle with previously stored image data and identifies the object based on the comparing of the image data representative of the object with the previously stored image data. The device also authenticates an electronic device within the vehicle that is associated with the object by wirelessly communicating with the electronic device and determines, based at least in part on the authenticating of the electronic device within the vehicle, that the vehicle is an authorized vehicle. The device also transmits an actuation command to the garage door to cause the garage door to open.

Garage security and convenience features

According to aspects of the present disclosure, user-defined settings may be assigned to a dummy device in response to a first request. A device identifier of a particular electronic device may later be registered with the dummy device in response to a second request. Based on receiving data indicating an installation procedure of the particular electronic device and based on the device identifier being registered with the dummy device, user-defined settings may be transmitted to cause configuration of at least some of the user-defined settings on the particular electronic device. In some cases, the data indicating an installation procedure corresponds to a beacon from the particular electronic device (e.g., a smart home device), which includes the device identifier. Further, the user-defined settings may be provided to the particular electronic device by another electronic device (e.g., another smart home device).

Electronic device configuration using dummy devices

The A/V recording and communication devices used in a security system may be configured to detect motion, and to track and report that motion to a building resident. Some residents may wish to customize the tracking and reporting of motion based upon where and when the motion is detected. For example, a user may wish to be alerted when cars drive down her residential street at night, but does not wish to be alerted when cars drive down the street during the day. The present embodiments disclose several tools and methods by which a building resident can configure and manage the tracking and reporting of detected motion. To do so, the resident should configure two or more motion zones within the field of view captured by a camera, together with a set of time windows during which she wishes to track or be notified of detected motion.

Temporal motion zones for audio/video recording devices

A network-connected security device is communicatively coupled to an audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device having a camera and a speaker. A method receives video data captured by the camera, and performs an object recognition algorithm upon the received video data to identify an object therein. The method performs a table lookup using the identified object, into a data structure that associates objects with at least one description of a predefined voice message. The method selects a description of a predefined voice message associated with the identified object, and transmits the selected description's predefined voice message to the A/V recording and communication device for output through the speaker.

Custom and automated audio prompts for devices

Parcel theft deterrence for audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device captures image data that includes a parcel, a parcel boundary may be created for monitoring the parcel within. In various embodiments, when the parcel is removed from the parcel boundary, a user alert may be generated to notify a user of a client device associated with the A/V recording and communication device that the parcel has been removed.

Parcel theft deterrence for A/V recording and communication devices

This application is directed to techniques and processes for notifying a user about power levels of electronic devices. For example, a first electronic device may receive data representing the power level of a second electronic device. The first electronic device may then determine that the power level is below a threshold power level. After the determination, the first electronic device may detect a user and/or a client device located within a threshold distance to the first electronic device and/or the second electronic device. The first electronic device may then send data to the second electronic device, wherein the data includes a command to emit light according to a pattern indicating that the power level is below the threshold power level. Additionally, the first electronic device may send a message to the client device, where the message indicates that the power level is below the threshold power level.

Providing device power-level notifications

The present embodiments relate to improvements to audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, including improved approaches to using a neighborhood alert mode for triggering multi-device recording, to a multi-camera motion tracking process, and to a multi-camera event stitching process to create a series of 'storyboard' images for activity taking place across the fields of view of multiple cameras, within a predetermined time period, for the A/V recording and communication devices.

This application is directed to user interfaces for displaying information associated with electronic devices. For instance, a client device may receive a request to open an application. The client device may then receive, from a network device, image data generated by one or more electronic devices. Using the image data, the client device may display one or more images represented by the image data on a user interface, where an individual image is associated with a respective electronic device. After a time period has elapsed, the client device may receive, from the network device, additional image data generated by the one or more electronic devices, where the additional image data represents one or more updated images. The client device may then display the one or more updated images, instead of the one or more images, using the user interface.

User interfaces associated with device applications

Sharing video footage recorded by audio/video (A/V) recording and communication devices, such as video doorbells and security cameras. When an A/V recording and communication device records video footage of suspicious activity, or even criminal activity, a user viewing the footage may alert his or her neighbors by sharing the video. In various embodiments, the user may share the video with anyone of the user's choosing, including neighbors, friends, and family.

A wireless speaker device configured for use with a wireless A/V recording and communication device, such as a doorbell. The wireless speaker device, which includes a speaker, may connect to the user's local area network (LAN), such as a Wi-Fi network. The LAN is connected to a wide area network (WAN), such as the Internet and/or a public switched telephone network (PSTN). When the wireless A/V recording and communication device detects a visitor, it sends a first signal, via the LAN, to device backend server in the WAN. In response, the back-end server in the WAN transmits a second signal, via the LAN, to the wireless speaker device. The second signal to the wireless speaker device includes a command for the wireless speaker device to emit a tone through its speaker. The wireless speaker device then emits a tone through its speaker to alert the user that a visitor is at the wireless A/V recording and communication device.

A method for remotely confirming delivery of a package may be accomplished using a client device and a using a network-connectable audio/video (A/V) recording and communication device. The method includes initiating the two-way communication between the client device and the A/V recording and communication device. The method further includes receiving, via a user interface of the client device, an indication that a package is being delivered to a building associated with the A/V recording and communication device. The method further includes receiving, at the client device, information about the package and displaying, on a display of the client device, the information about the package. The method further includes receiving, via the user interface, an electronic signature indicating acceptance of delivery of the package. The method further includes transmitting, by the client device, the electronic signature to a delivery service server.
