A splice terminal for connecting a magnet wire to a lead wire. The splice terminal includes a first closed section and a second open section. The first closed section has a first section bottom wall, first section side walls and a first section top wall. An opening is provided between the first section bottom wall, the first section side walls and the first section top wall. The opening is configured to receive the magnet wire therein. The opening has a height between the first section bottom wall and the first section top wall which is larger than the diameter of the magnet wire. The second open section has a second section bottom wall and second section side walls. The second section is configured to receive the magnet wire and the lead wire therein.

Magnet wire splice terminal

A shear guide for a terminal crimping machine includes a body having a shear edge configured to face a terminal used to splice a magnet wire and a lead wire. A magnet wire channel is formed by the body and is configured to receive and hold the magnet wire. A lead wire channel is formed by the body and is configured to receive and hold the lead wire. The lead wire channel is vertically offset with respect to the magnet wire channel. The body may include a platform and a separating wall positioned vertically above the platform with a slot defined between the separating wall and the platform. The slot may receive the magnet wire and the separating wall may support the lead wire above the separating wall.

Shear guide for a terminal crimping machine

A wire stop assembly is provided for a terminal crimping machine that crimps a terminal to a wire. The terminal crimping machine includes a crimping zone. The wire stop assembly includes a wire stop member having a stop surface configured to engage the wire to limit an amount of travel of the wire in the crimping zone. The wire stop member is movable relative to the crimping zone in a floating direction. A biasing mechanism is configured to exert a biasing force on the wire stop. The biasing force provides a resistance to the movement of the wire stop member in the floating direction.

Wire stop for a terminal crimping machine

An apparatus for inserting terminals carried on a carrier strip into cavities in a housing having a slide assembly with a cam track movable between a first and a second position, and a pivoting lever with a cam follower. The cam follower is positioned in and cooperates with the cam track. The lever is movable between an open and closed position and has first and second shearing blades. An eccentric pin extends through the lever and is attached to a rotary actuator. The eccentric pin is positioned to act as the pivot point for the lever. The rotary actuator is movable between an engaged and disengaged position. As the lever is moved to the closed position, the first shearing blades engage and shear a first portion of the carrier strip. As the rotary actuator moves to an engaged position, the second shearing blade engages and shears a second portion of the carrier strip.

Automatic variable shear for bridged and unbridged terminal insertion

A wire presentation device for a terminal including a saddle includes at least one guard wall, and at least one guide member rotatably mounted to the guard wall and positionable between a loading position and a crimping position. The guide member is configured to funnel wire into the saddle of the terminal in the loading position. The guard wall includes a curved guide slot therein, the at least one guide member extends proximate the slot. A spring element biases the guide member in the loading position and a position of the guide member relative to the guard wall is adjustable. The guide member has a contoured outer surface, and the outer surface has a flat section therein for accommodating an adjustable positioning member. The guide member is configured to be positioned away from the terminal when in the crimping position.

Wire presentation device for power splice terminal

A crimp height adjustment mechanism is disclosed for use in a crimping machine having an anvil and a ram carrying a crimping die. The ram is secured against rotation and guided for reciprocal movement along a ram axis for moving the crimping die toward and away from the anvil. A drive member is connected for reciprocating the ram. The adjustment mechanism includes a first member fixed with respect to the anvil and having a first threaded portion of a first thread pitch extending along an adjustment axis parallel to the ram axis. A second member has a second threaded portion coaxial to the first threaded portion. The second threaded portion has a second thread pitch which differs from the first thread pitch. The second member is secured against rotation and coupled to move the ram linearly along the ram axis. A third member has both a third threaded portion which is threadedly engaged with the first threaded portion, and a fourth threaded portion which is threadedly engaged with the second threaded portion. The third member is rotatable about the adjustment axis so as to change an extent of engagement with the first and second threaded portions. Rotation of the third member about the adjustment axis produces a linear movement of the second member which is equal to a number of rotations of the third member multiplied by a difference between the first and second pitches.

Crimp height adjustment mechanism

A machine for inserting terminals (12) into housings (10) on an electrical device (4) comprises an inserting apparatus (34) in combination with a turntable assembly (32). The turntable assembly comprises a main turntable (38) and a plurality of secondary turntables (40) on the main turntable. The secondary turntables (40) are individually rotatable with respect to the main turntable (38) so that an electrical device (4) mounted on a secondary turntable (40) can be reoriented thereby to permit a wide variety of insertion operations to be performed on the device, for example, where the terminals (12) must be inserted into housings (10) arranged in two or more rows. The secondary turntables can be rotated to position each row in alignment with the fixed insertion machine (34).
