A method for transforming data includes receiving information defining a transformation of a source file to a target file, wherein the information identifies a web service and generating, based on the received information, a script operable when executed to implement the defined transformation. The script is then stored. The method further includes receiving a request to perform the transformation on a first file and initiating execution of the script. Additionally, as part of executing the script, the method includes transmitting a service request to the web service that includes input data obtained from the first file. Also as part of executing the script, the method includes receiving a service response from the web service, wherein the service response includes output data and writing the output data to a second file.

Systems and methods for measuring and managing ambiguity among a plurality of configuration items residing in a configuration management database include determining for at least a first configuration item, at least a second configuration item such that a first set of attributes associated with the first configuration item and a second set of attributes associated with the second configuration item have at least one attribute with an identical value. As an indicator for the ambiguity, an ambiguity index for the first configuration item may be measured. One of the first configuration item and the second configuration item may be identified as an ambiguous configuration item. Upon identification, an operational state of the ambiguous configuration item or a set of one or more attributes associated with the ambiguous configuration item may be modified. The ambiguity for configuration item transactions may likewise be measured and managed to locate and resolve transaction ambiguity.

A method for a dynamic adapter design pattern is described. The method comprises a series of tour components being selected for a user from a plurality of tour components. This selection may be based on interaction information of a plurality of past participants with the plurality of tour components. A selected tour component, from the plurality of tour components, is received from the user. The series of tour components are adapted in real-time based on the selected component. This adaptation occurs by determining the user's prior interaction with the plurality of tour components, comparing the user's prior interaction and the selected tour component with the interaction information of the plurality of past participants, and modifying the series of tour components based on the comparison.

A method for transforming data includes creating an array and initializing a value in each array element of the array. The method also includes storing data in the array from data components in a source file by, for each data component in the source file, detecting a beginning of the data component and determining whether an array element corresponding to the detected data component is included in the array. If an array element corresponding to a particular data component is included in the array, a value of the corresponding array element is set based on data in the detected data component. If an array element corresponding to that data component is not included in the array, the detected data component is discarded. Additionally, the method includes writing at least a portion of the data stored in the array to a target file.

System and method for data manipulation

A system and method include a database having multiple tables with columns containing information. A database application executes queries against the database. An externalized data structure are stored on the system and provide a user modifiable set of key performance indicators facilitating selection of database tables and queries against the tables to provide multiple levels of viewable key performance indicators to users without having to recompile the database application upon modification of the set of key performance indicators.

In one embodiment of the invention, a system for data manipulation includes a mapper module operable to receive a first data format of a source file, receive a second data format of a target file, and automatically generate a script to represent a movement of data from the source file to the target file. A server is operable to execute the script, a first interface module is coupled to the source file and is operable to load the data in accordance with the script, and a second interface module is coupled to the target file and is operable to store the data in accordance with the script.

In one embodiment of the invention, a method for designing data movement from a source file to a target file includes receiving a first data format of a source file via a graphical user interface, receiving a second data format of a target file via the graphical user interface, receiving mappings from a user via the graphical user interface to represent a desired movement of data from the source file to the target file, and automatically converting the mappings into a script to represent a movement of data from the source file to the target file.
