An illuminated speaker panel assembly with an integrated audio seal is described. In one embodiment, an illuminated speaker panel assembly for a vehicle includes a speaker configured to mount to a door body of a vehicle and a base panel component configured to attach to the door body over the speaker. The base panel component includes a speaker frame aligned with an outer periphery of the speaker. The speaker frame includes an outer sealing wall, an inner retention wall, and a channel disposed between the outer sealing wall and the inner retention wall. A lighting member is disposed within the channel of the speaker frame such that the lighting member is configured to extend substantially along the outer periphery of the speaker.

A shift mode system and method of operating includes a switch assembly that selectively and alternately connects a shift selector to one of the steering column and the steering wheel. In an exemplary embodiment, the switch assembly has a first locking member to connect the shift selector to the steering column, and a second locking member for connecting the shift selector to the steering wheel. A lever has first and second operative positions to selectively engage the first and second locking members or pins from the shifter into operative engagement with one of first and second cable reels, respectively.

The vehicle includes a body and a dual-mode tailgate connected to the body via a dual-action hinge The harness assembly includes a protector connected to a frame of the tailgate. The protector has a body shaped to conform to a first portion of the tailgate frame having a first contour and a second portion of the tailgate frame having a second differing contour. A portion of the protector body is configured to route a section of a tailgate harness adjacent an outboard lateral edge of the tailgate frame and past the section of the tailgate harness under a dual-action hinge.
