The present disclosure is directed to a door hinge mechanism for a vehicle. The door hinge mechanism may include a door configured to open and close relative to the frame, and a hinge secured to an interior of the door and an exterior of the frame. The hinge may be configured to open the door by sliding the door away from the frame and pivoting the door relative to the frame.

Door hinge mechanism for a vehicle

A method for manufacturing a vehicle frame is disclosed. An upper body of the vehicle frame is formed, the upper body configured to be joined with an underbody of the vehicle frame at a first component of the upper body. The underbody of the vehicle frame is formed, the underbody configured to be joined with the upper body at a first component of the underbody. After forming the upper body and the underbody, a point on the upper body is aligned with a desired position for the point, independent of an alignment between the first component of the upper body and the first component of the underbody. After aligning the point on the upper body with the desired position for the point, the first component of the upper body is joined to the first component of the underbody.

Low stress vehicle frame manufacturing process

A joint for a vehicle can direct forces away from an interior of the vehicle and along a frame rail. The joint can pivot when subjected to a high force, and the pivoting action can redirect and redistribute the force away from a passenger compartment. The joint can comprise multiple pivot points.

Joint for an underbody of a motor vehicle

Crush cans for motor vehicles are provided herein. An example crush can includes a first open end, a second open end, and a longitudinal axis running from the first open end to the second open end. The crush can further includes a top wall, a bottom wall, a first side wall and a second side wall. The top wall and the bottom wall taper from the second open end towards the first open end. The crush can uniformly collapses when under compressive forces along the longitudinal axis.
