A wheeled chair for transporting patients includes a plurality of footrests for supporting a patient's feet thereon. Each footrest is pivotable between an up position and a down position, and includes a biasing mechanism for biasing the footrest toward the up position, or the down position, or whichever of the two positions the footrest is currently closer to. A swing mechanism swings the footrests from a use position in front of the seat to a stowed position alongside the seat. A trigger, such as a button, automatically activates the swinging. The swinging may take place about a vertical axis that is common to the axis about which the front caster wheels swivel. Pivot extensions may be included on the footrests that provide a tool for enabling a caregiver to manually pivot the footrest between the up and down positions with his or her foot.

A wheeled chair for transporting patients includes a frame, a seat, a plurality of wheels, and a plurality of armrests. The armrests are pivotable about a common pivot axis that is oriented generally horizontally and that is positioned underneath the seat and forward of a back support. Each armrest may include a locking mechanism for holding the armrests in a use position. When locked in the use position, a user may apply an upward force on the armrests to lift the chair upwardly that does not cause pivoting of the armrests. The chair is designed to allow nesting with other chairs of similar design. The front wheels may be positioned laterally apart a greater distance than the rear wheels to allow a first chair to nestingly receive a rear portion of a second chair. Foley hooks may also be included on the chair for hanging a Foley catheter bag.

Wheeled chair

A latching and locking system for a cover for the cargo bed of a vehicle having a tailgate. The system includes a cover latch, a first manual operator for releasing the cover latch, and a second automatic operator for automatically releasing the cover latch if the tailgate is moved to its closed position when the cover is closed and locked. The system includes a single cable interconnecting the latch and the first and second operators. The second operator carries a movable tailgate latch. Finally, the system includes a single lock operatively connected to both the first operator and the tailgate latch.

A heating assembly for heating a semiconductor substrate in a processing chamber of a reactor includes a plurality of heater supports and a plurality of heating devices supported by the heater supports. The heater supports provide conductive paths for the heating devices for coupling the heating devices to an external power source and, further, are adapted to cool the heating devices whereby the heating devices may be operated at a high power output while maintaining the temperature of the heating devices below a maximum temperature. Preferably the heater supports are cooled by a coolant system, for example a coolant system which circulates coolant through at least a portion of the heater supports to thereby cool the heater supports and the heating devices.

An emergency stretcher for emergency vehicles includes an X-frame litter support mechanism that vertically movably supports a patient litter on a wheeled base. Each of the legs of the litter support mechanism have the capability to expand and contract in length, and a fixed-length link member extends between the base and one of the legs. A releasable locking arrangement can releasably lock the patient litter in a selected vertical position, and can be released only when the patient litter is manually lifted. A gas cylinder which controls the angular position of a pivotally supported upper body support member can move into a recess in a cross member of the patient litter.
