An interchangeable electronic lock mechanism provides selective access to a motor controlled latching system including a motorized pin to lock and unlock a knob assembly. The lock mechanism may be used to replace key operated locking cores, on the exterior of a storage unit, with a plug and optional adapter inserted into a remaining shell housing, and a driver to control access to a storage unit. Manual rotation of the knob activates the drive assembly to control access to the storage unit. An optional break away security feature in the knob inhibits unauthorized unlatching of the lock. When the lock is unlatched, the knob rotates the drive assembly including the plug and adapter within the shell housing, and in turn, activates the driver to operate the lock assembly in the storage unit. An optional modular chassis assembly includes a removable array of components for testing, maintenance and repair.

Electronic lock mechanism

A weather resistant tumbler lock has an elongated body, and defines a longitudinal axis. The lock is interchangeable with another lock having a corresponding asymmetrical perimeter profile with an opening in a top surface sealed with a cap, the other lock having a different rotatable core and a different configuration of tumblers. A drainway provides a channel for water to flow outwardly from the interior of a shell housing, a rotatable core and a keyway within the core, to a drain below the lock. The drain connects to a channel through a lower edge. The core provides an arcuate gap in a lower quadrant adjacent the interior surface of the shell for fluid communication with the drainway. A method includes identifying a substitute tumbler lock with an impermeable outer wall for replacing another lock having an identical outer perimeter profile and a permeable closed opening on its top surface.

Weather resistant lock

An interchangeable electronic lock includes an electronic access system to activate a motor which powers a gear assembly in the electronic lock. An optional manual bypass allows an operator to override the electronic access. When the lock is activated, the operator manually cranks a lock shaft to lock and unlock a storage unit. A controller selectively operates the motor to move the gear assembly in a linear direction. The gear assembly engages a first portion of a drive assembly with a second portion, to permit manual operation of the lock shaft to lock and unlock the storage unit. An optional modular chassis assembly includes a removable array of components for testing, maintenance and repair. The invention includes a system for operation of the electronic lock, a method of operating the electronic lock and software for operating the electronic lock.

Method and system for operating an electronic lock

An electronic lock is interchangeable with mechanical locks in retrofit applications or as an OEM lock. The lock includes interchangeable modular components. The lock housing is interchangeable with other housings of different configurations to permit replacement of existing mechanical locks. The lock may also include interchangeable drivers for compatibility with other systems. The lock includes an electronic access system such as a programmable keypad or card reader to activate a motor which powers the electronic lock. An optional manual bypass allows an operator to override the electronic access, for example when the motor is inoperative. When the lock is activated, the operator manually cranks a lock shaft to lock and unlock a storage unit. An optional modular chassis assembly includes a removable array of components for testing, maintenance and repair.

Interchangeable electronic lock

A film bearing advertising can be applied to a moving handrail for a set period of time. The film bearing the advertising can include a first film layer and a first layer of adhesive on the underside of the first film layer, the film being generally elongated and having a width corresponding to a width of the moving handrail. The film can be aligned and adhered, continuously and progressively, to the handrail. The advertising can include a pattern repeated at regular intervals along the length of the film. The advertising can include at least one of text, images and logos. After the set period of time, the film can be removed. After removing the film, the surface of the handrail can be cleaned. A second film bearing second advertising can be applied for a second set period of time. First and second advertisers can be charged different advertising rates.

Method of applying advertising to the surface of a moving handrail

A film and a method of applying the film to a handrail of an escalator or moving walkway are provided. The film can be a single or double layered film. Printed matter, e.g. advertising, can be applied to or between the films. An apparatus and related method for applying the film are also included and rely on the motion of the handrail to unroll a supply of the film, with one or more rollers pressing the film onto the handrail. The film is stretched during application to prestretch and reduce tendency for compressive strains in use to cause wrinkling of the film and detachment from the handrail. To retain the ends of the film in relative position, a film cap is fused or bonded to end portions of the film.

Method of and apparatus for applying a film optionally including advertising or other visible material, to the surface of a handrail for an escalator or moving walkway

A film and a method of applying the film to a handrail of an escalator or moving walkway are provided. The film can be a single or double layered film. Printed matter, e.g. advertising, can be applied to or between the films.
