An entity modeling system integrated with a low-code application development platform may have a web/mobile-based user interface that can run in a browser environment on user devices ranging from desktop computers to smart phones. Users such as a subject matter expert may access an entity model designer tool of the system to model an entity. Responsive to user interaction with an entity composition function, the system may access a data store over a network and generate a view including a collection of entity building block(s) retrieved from the data store. Responsive to the user selecting a first entity building block from the collection to add to the entity, the system may automatically extend the entity to include settings of the first entity building block. The settings may include at least one of a property, permission, action, behavior, or resource to the entity.

Compositional entity modeling systems and methods

Embodiments of distributed storage systems are disclosed herein. Certain embodiments maintain statistics associated with storage locations within the distributed storage system at servers within the distributed storage systems. The statistics maintained at each server may be particularized to that server with respect to each storage location. These statistics may be utilized to predict access costs associated with requests for data (e.g., read or write requests) within the distributed storage system. The predicted access costs are, in turn, used to select a storage location in servicing the data access requests increasing computer performance and efficiency at least by decreasing access involved with requests for such data.

Responsive to a request to retrieve or store a file, a transformation pipeline may be created to efficiently transform file data one unit at a time in memory. The transformation pipeline includes a sequence of transformation streams, each containing a write method, a read method, and a transformation to be applied. The write method moves a unit of data, for instance, from a memory buffer into an associated stream. The read method reads the unit of data from the stream, calls an associated transformation, and passes the unit of data thus transformed to the next stream or a destination. This process is repeated until all desired and/or required transformations such as compression, encryption, tamper protection, conversion, etc. are applied to the unit of data.

The computer method and apparatus thereby relieve the container application containing the controls, from accessing controls and managing communications from one control to another. Using the memory mapped file, a control object is able to directly call methods and access properties of desired other control objects. The modified executable copy of the application program is responsive to a user invocation of an electronic mail operation for invoking the corresponding electronic mail procedure. The data interfaces include the data transfer functions of the integrated operating environment and are responsive to the mail procedures for communicating data from the application program to the current mail interface module.

The link mechanism responds to the moniker pointer by invoking a server application program to open the server object and provide the linked data to the presentation window. Each reference includes a file name and a path name and a search mechanism determines the server object directory path, which is used in generating the moniker. The link manager responds to a second reference by modifying the moniker to identify a second server object and the link mechanism reuses the link by closing the first application program and server object and invoking a second server application program to open the second server object and provide the linked data to the presentation window. A moniker manager allows the opening of plural links, each with a moniker, but directs the moniker generator to modify and reuse a previous moniker and link when at a preseleted limit.

A user creates and stores a script identifying the source data and directing the operation of the application program to generate the result data from the source data and inserts a reference to the script in the second data object, wherein the reference identifies the script, the application program and an operation of the application program to execute the script. The user may then invoke the reference to indicate that a current version of the result data derived by operation upon a current version of the source data is to be provided to the second data object, whereupon the system resolves the reference to identify the script, the application program and the operation of the application program to execute the script and invokes the application program to execute the script to generate the result data from the source data and to provide the result data to the second data object.
