In one embodiment, a system for allocating clients between radios of an access point is disclosed. The system includes a first antenna coupled to a first radio, a second antenna coupled to a second radio, and a monitoring radio coupled to the first antenna and second antenna. The system includes computer-readable instructions that cause the system to receive at the monitoring radio, a first client attribute from each of a plurality of first client devices, and a second client attribute from each of a plurality of second client devices, and provide each aforementioned attribute to an optimization function. The system determines, with the optimization function, that one of the first radio and second radio will optimize performance for at least one device of the plurality of first client devices and second client devices and steer the at least one device accordingly.

Adaptive client steering in an access point using a monitoring radio

Improved Radio Frequency (RF) performance by optimizing temperature may be provided. A plurality of heatmaps may be created associating a plurality of component heat characteristics, of a plurality of components of a device, with a plurality of pre-defined performance trade-off states. Next, a shortest path through the plurality of pre-defined performance trade-off states may be determined. The device may then be placed in successive ones of the plurality of pre-defined performance trade-off states according to the determined shortest path until a Transmit (TX) performance target is met.

Improving radio frequency (RF) performance by optimizing temperature in an access point (AP) ecosystem

An access point allocates resource units within a first channel to mitigate interference from an adjacent second channel. The access point obtains a measure of signal strength corresponding to each wireless device attached to an access point, and assigns, for each wireless device, resource units with a first frequency band of the first channel to mitigate interference with a second frequency band of a second channel adjacent to the first channel. An assignment between a set of resource units and a particular wireless device is based on the measure of signal strength corresponding to the particular wireless device. The access point communicates with the wireless devices on the resource units.

In one embodiment, an apparatus includes a plurality of antennas, a plurality of Front End Modules (FEMs) coupled to the antennas, an input for receiving Power over Ethernet (PoE), a PoE detector for identifying a type of PoE received at the apparatus, wherein the type of PoE is associated with a PoE power budget, and a power controller for applying a PoE power conservation policy based on the PoE power budget, wherein applying the PoE power conservation policy comprises switching between a normal operating voltage and a reduced operating voltage at the FEMs. A method is also disclosed herein.

Dynamic access point radio frequency power control for power over Ethernet adaptation

Optimal determination of transmit power level for MLDs in A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). An AP can establish synchronous downlink multi-link operations with another MLD. A first link and a second link between the AP and the MLD both operate in a same sub-band. The AP can then determine the same power level for both the first link and second link. After establishing the same power level, the AP can then determine a second power level for the first link and a third power level for the second link. The second power level is greater than the third power level. The AP can then provide the second power level for the first link and the third power level for the second link.

Adaptive equivalent isotropically radiated power (EIRP) for multi-link devices in a single regulatory sub-band

Optimal determination of wireless antenna configurations may be provided. A computing device may direct an antenna array of an Access Point (AP) to generate a wide beamwidth, to locate a cluster of two or more stations. Upon locating the cluster, the AP can narrow the beamwidth, and, with the narrower beamwidth, receive a key performance indicator (KPI) from at least one of the two or more stations in the cluster. The computing device may then generate a statistical model, based on the KPI and an antenna vector of the antenna array. Based on the statistical model, the computing device can determine a second antenna vector to optimize the KPI for one or more of the client stations. The computing device can then modify the antenna state of the AP to generate the determined antenna vector.

Adaptive beamwidth switching and beam steering in Large Public Venue (LPV) smart antenna system

Embodiments herein describe using a dual assess point (AP) to establish two access points that both are established by two individual radios (e.g., two 5 GHz radios). Generally, APs experience highly degraded performance when two co-located radios operate within the same band. In one embodiment, AP devices can deploy same band radios using a macro-micro cell approach. Thus, the AP may intelligently hand off client devices between the micro and macro cell in a way that optimizes the system for overall throughput and low packet latency while creating minimal oscillation of clients between cells. The embodiments in this disclosure disclose techniques that direct clients in a manner that optimizes these factors.

Directing client devices between co-located macro and micro wireless cells

Embodiments for preliminary antenna configuration for a radio in an access point are described. A preliminary antenna configuration with a first number of antennas transmitting at a first power level based on a maximum transmission power for the radio is used to determine a second antenna configuration based on network level factors, where the second antenna configuration includes a second number of antennas. The second antenna configuration is used to determine a third antenna configuration from the second antenna configuration, where the third antenna configuration includes a third number of antennas transmitting at a third power level based on a client transmission factors for a plurality of client devices connected to the access point. The third antenna configuration is used to transmit network traffic from the access point to the plurality of client devices using the third antenna configuration.

An electronically a steerable and switchable antenna array is provided that can produce a first beam with a first coverage range and a second beam with a second coverage range by selecting one of a first and a second beamwidth for both the first and second beams; in response to selecting the first beamwidth: switching signal inputs to narrow-beam antenna arrays; steering the first beam to one of a first positive, negative, or zero offset position; independently steering the second beam to one of a second positive, negative offset, or zero offset position; and transmitting signals received from the signal inputs via the first beam and the second beam; and in response to selecting the second beamwidth: switching signal inputs to wide-beam antenna arrays; and transmitting signals received from the signal inputs via the first beam and the second beam.
