Providing wireless services to a connected vehicle

The disclosure includes a speech-enabled device and method to share speech dialog capabilities of the speech-enabled device with a dumb device. The speech-enabled device includes a processor and a memory storing instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the speech-enabled device to: receive speech dialog data of the dumb device that indicates a function of the dumb device; receive speech input; determine the function of the dumb device to be invoked based on the speech input by using the speech dialog data; generate a command effective to invoke the function of the dumb device based on the speech dialog data; and send the command to the dumb device to invoke the function of the dumb device.

Sharing speech dialog capabilities of a vehicle

The disclosure includes a system, method and tangible memory for providing a driver familiarity adapted explanation to a driver of a vehicle. The system includes a sensor set configured to measure sensor data describing a task and the driver. The system also includes an onboard vehicle computer including a tangible memory, a processor, a task tracker and a familiarity application. The task tracker causes the processor to determine a vehicle operation to be proactively performed by the task tracker to autocomplete the task. The familiarity application causes the processor to execute steps including estimating how familiar the driver is with the vehicle operation based on the sensor data describing the driver of the vehicle, retrieving a template explanation associated with the vehicle operation, and adapting the template explanation to generate a driver familiarity adapted explanation describing the autocomplete of the vehicle operation.

Driver familiarity adapted explanations for proactive automated vehicle operations

The disclosure describes novel technology for inferring scenes from images. In one example, the technology includes a system that can determine partition regions from one or more factors that are independent of the image data, for an image depicting a scene; receive image data including pixels forming the image; classify pixels of the image into one or more pixel types based on one or more pixel-level features; determine, for each partition region, a set of pixel characteristic data describing a portion of the image included in the partition region based on the one or more pixel types of pixels in the partition region; and classify a scene of the image based on the set of pixel characteristic data of each of the partition regions.

Computationally efficient scene classification

Embodiments of the present invention provide apparatuses, methods, and systems for authenticated distributed detection and inference. In various embodiments, an apparatus comprises an interface configured to communicatively couple a node hosting the apparatus to a network, and a distributed detection and inference (DDI) agent coupled to the interface and configured to receive, via the interface, DDI collaboration parameters from an authentication node is disclosed. Methods, apparatus, and systems are provided for distributed hypothesis testing in autonomic processing machines. Evidence about a network resource is gathered or contributed to and associated with a hypothesis about the network resource. The evidence is processed to determine whether a decision can be made with respect to activities or problems associated with the network resource. The hypothesis, the evidence, and the contributed evidence are propagated over a network to other network nodes or participants.
