A device for use in determining the minimum size of ophthalmic lens blank which may be made to fit a desired spectacles frame or the largest frame for a given lens blank size.

Spectacles lens-frame fitting coordinator

Over refraction of an aphakic patient with a temporary lens clipped into an empty eye wire of a spectacles frame to be subsequently permanently glazed and worn by the patient. With the temporary lens set at proper vertex distance from the cornea, centered with the eye and correct face fitting adjustment of the frame, over-refraction is undertaken for determination of permanent lens refractive requirements.

Spectacle lens insert for aphakic refraction

A series of non-lenticular ophthalmic lenses for use in the correction of aphakia having, in the case of each lens of the series, a front surface of rotationally symmetrical aspheric cross-sectional curvature designed for wide field of view with consideration of the aphakic eye as a dynamic optical system and geometry permitting cast-finishing to patient's prescription in currently fashionable large lens sizes with minimal weight, thickness and flatness allowing close fitting to the eye. The front surface aspheric coefficients are selected to overcome prior art rapid zero edge thickness conditions.
