A dispensing closure (A,B) defines a central axis and has a first body (A,B) for being located at an opening of a container. The first body (A,B) having a first peripheral wall (A,B) and a membrane (A,B) that is connected to the first peripheral wall (A,B) to initially occlude access to the interior of the container. The membrane (A,B) includes a separation member (A,B) that accommodates engagement by a user to separate the membrane (A,B) from the first peripheral wall (A,B) to permit access to the interior of the container. The membrane (A,B) has an annular peripheral portion (A,B) adjacent the first peripheral wall (A,B) that slopes axially outwardly along the central axis in a radial direction moving away from the first peripheral wall (A,B) toward the central axis.

Closure for a container

A dispensing closure () with non-frangible tamper evidence features includes a body () having a locking pin () with an initial configuration and a locking configuration moved relative to the initial configuration when engaged by a portion of a container () or a spout (). The closure () includes a lid () connected to the body () and is movable between an initially closed position, an open position, and a subsequently closed position returned from the open position. The lid () has an aperture () and a tamper evidence tab (), wherein, in the initially closed position of the lid (), the locking pin () is located in the locking configuration and the tamper evidence tab () is retained beneath the locking pin (). In the subsequently closed position of the lid (), the tamper evidence tab () is rotated laterally outwardly into the aperture () to indicate evidence of tampering to a user.

Dispensing closure with tamper evidence features

A valve () includes a base () defining a central axis (). The valve () includes a post () connected to the base () and extending axially outwardly from the base (), in the direction along the central axis (). The valve () includes at least one flow aperture () in one or both of the base () and/or the post (). The valve () further includes a flexible membrane () having an orifice () and having a non-dispensing configuration wherein the orifice () is located proximate to the post () to minimize communication through the valve (). The flexible membrane () has a dispensing configuration wherein the orifice () is moved away from the post () for establishing communication through the valve ().

A closing element for restricting communication of a substance through an access passage of a body includes a first portion for being removably affixed to the body, the first portion having an inner wall, an outer wall surrounding the inner wall, and at least one bridge connecting the outer wall with the inner wall. The closing element has a second portion for being non-removably affixed to the body and a movable connecting element extending between the first portion and the second portion. The closing element has an unactuated configuration wherein a major portion of the length of the connecting element is located laterally between the inner wall and the outer wall to shield the major portion of the length of the connecting element.

Closure for a container and components for a closure

A closing element () for restricting communication of a substance through an access passage () of a body () includes a first portion () for being removably affixed to the body (), the first portion () having an inner wall (), an outer wall () surrounding the inner wall (), and at least one bridge () connecting the outer wall () with the inner wall (). The closing element () has a second portion () for being non-removably affixed to the body () and a movable connecting element () extending between the first portion () and the second portion (). The closing element () has an unactuated configuration wherein a major portion () of the length of the connecting element () is located laterally between the inner wall () and the outer wall () to shield the major portion () of the length of the connecting element ().

A closure (A,B) for use with a container includes a body (A,B) defining a passage (A,B) and a first latch portion (B). The closure (A,B) has a lid (A,B) defining a deflectable press portion (A,B) that has a connection (A,B) to the closure body (A,B). The lid (A,B) has a cover portion (A,B) including a second latch portion (A,B) for engaging the first latch portion (B) to releasably hold the cover portion (A,B) in a latched closed position in which the cover portion (A,B) at least partially occludes the passage (A,B). The lid (A,B) has a biased hinge (A,B) connecting the cover portion (A,B) with the press portion (A,B) to accommodate movement of the cover portion (A,B) between the latched closed position and an unlatched open position.

A liner () and closure () are provided for being initially assembled and subsequently installed on a container () of a product to create a package (A). The liner () is provided for being disposed between, and sealed to, the container () and the closure () mounted thereon. The liner () includes a metallic substrate layer () that is an aluminum alloy and that is located between first and second heat-sealable layers (), respectively. The liner () has a through hole (), and the metallic substrate layer () has a laterally inward edge surface () that is exposed at the through hole ().

A combination of a closing element () and a receiving structure () is provided wherein the closing element () and receiving structure () are in an initially assembled orientation which prevents, but which can be subsequently operated to permit, communication through the receiving structure (). The receiving structure () includes at least one laterally projecting shear member () and a spout () defining (A) an access passage (). The closing element () has an aperture () for receiving a shear member () of the receiving structure (). At least one frangible bridge () extends across a portion of the aperture () for being severed by the shear member () during relative rotation between the closing element () and the receiving structure ().

Tamper-evident closing element and receiving structure

A closure assembly () that includes a cap or overcap () and a fitment () for a container is provided wherein the fitment () has a laterally projecting shear member (), and the overcap () has an aperture () for initially receiving the shear member () when the overcap () and fitment () are in an initially assembled orientation or condition. The aperture () and the shear member () cooperate in the initially assembled orientation such that when subjected to a flow of a sterilizing gas, turbulence is created in the sterilizing gas flow to enhance sterilization of the combination. The closure assembly () may, instead, or additionally, be provided wherein the overcap () has an elongate, hollow plug () for establishing a first seal between the fitment () and the overcap () in the initially assembled orientation, and the wherein overcap () has a skirt () for establishing a second seal between the fitment () and the overcap () in the initially assembled orientation.

A combination of a closing element () and a receiving structure () is provided wherein the closing element () and receiving structure () are in an initially assembled orientation which prevents, but which can he subsequently operated to permit, communication through the receiving structure (). The receiving structure () includes at least one laterally projecting shear member () and a spout () defining (A) an access passage (). The closing element () has an aperture () for receiving a shear member () of the receiving structure (). At least one frangible bridge () extends across a portion of the aperture () for being severed by the shear member () during relative rotation between the closing element () and the receiving structure ().

A closure () is provided to selectively permit or restrict communication between the exterior and the interior of a system that has an opening between the exterior and interior. The closure () includes a closure body () that defines an access passage () and a membrane () that initially occludes the access passage (). The connection of the membrane () to the body () is defined by a tearable portion () of material that defines a tear path along which the material can be torn. The tear path has; (A) a first separation path () where separation of the membrane () from the body () initially originates; and (B) a second separation path () where separation of the membrane () from the body () terminates. The second separation path () has a generally tapered configuration.

Closure with a removable membrane having an improved separability configuration

A closure (GA,GB) is provided for a system with an opening. The closure (A,B) has a body (A,B) with an outer end (B) and a through passage (GB) for communicating with the system opening. The body (A,B) has a membrane (B) mitially occluding the through passage (B). The closure (A,B) has a lid (A.B) to accommodate movement relative to the body (A,B) between a closed position restricting access to the through passage (B) and an open position permitting greater access to the through passage (B). The body (A,B) thither has a separation member (GB) that can be engaged by a user to separate at least a part of the membrane (B) from the body (A.B). The separation member (B) extends away from the membrane (B) and has a deployed configuration wherein the separation member (B) projects outwardly beyond the body outer end (B) when the lid (A,B) is in the open position. The separation member (B) further has the capability for assuming a stored configuration with the separation member (B) engaged by the lid (A,B) with the lid (A,B) in the closed position. Resiliency of the separation member (B) urges the separation member (B) {acute over (&#x3b9;)}{umlaut over (&#x3b9;)}o&#x3b9;&#x3b7; the stored configuration to the deployed configuration when the lid (A,B) is moved from the closed position to the open position.
