The present invention relates to core-shell capsules prepared with linear and/or branched and cyclic aliphatic polyisocyanates. In particular, the present invention discloses a core-shell capsule, wherein the shell comprises or consists of a polymeric material which is produced or producible by reacting two components, the first component comprising or consisting of at least one linear aliphatic polyisocyanate and/or at least one branched aliphatic polyisocyanate having more than one isocyanate group, respectively, and at least one cyclic aliphatic polyisocyanate having more than one isocyanate group, the second component comprising or consisting of one or more crosslinking agent(s). Furthermore, a product comprising the present core-shell capsule, a process for producing the present core-shell capsules and the use of the present core-shell capsules is provided.

Suggested are polyurea microcapsules obtainable or obtained by reacting di- and/or polyisocyanates and guanidine carbonate in the presence of chemically modified biopolymer colloidal protection agents. The capsules can be loaded for example with fragrances and show high resistance against agglomeration in unstructured (viscosity 10-300 cps), anionic surfactant based liquid products.

The present invention provides a time indicator and method of use for determining and visually displaying the passage of a predetermined period of time. The time indicator of the present invention comprises a top portion and a bottom portion. The top portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a dye support layer coated with a masking layer, which containing a viewing window therethrough, and a non-curing ink or dye permeable polymer layer containing a migrating agent. The bottom portion is a multi-layer segment comprising a base support layer and a migrating ink or dye printed on the top surface of the base segment. The time indicator apparatus further comprises a removable impervious film or middle layer, which can be removed allowing the top and bottom portions to come into contact with one another, thereby activating the time indicator. The time indicator of the present invention allows one to follow the uniform directional visual dye migration through the viewing window.

Described is a fragrance control release system which is an emulsifier-free, single phase, nonporous, continuous, permeable polymeric film having a substantially uniform thickness of from about 1 up to about 150 microns, having entrapped and dissolved therein molecules of at least one fragrance substance capable of evolving from said film into the environment proximate said film by means of molecular diffusion at a permeation rate of from about 1&times;10 up to about 0.1 mg-mm/cm -min in a sustained and controlled release manner. The present invention relates to functionalizable and crosslinkable polyurethanes formed of a polyurethane intermediate including one or more ester groups which react with an amine equivalent to form an amide unit. The polyurethane intermediate comprises the reaction product of alkyl ester of dihydroxypolyacid or dimethylolalkanoic acid, a polyoxyalkylene diol and an organic diisocyanate. The polyurethane is reacted with a solution of an amine equivalent and a solvent or an amine. An article of manufacture can be formed from the polyurethane.

Functionalized polyurethanes

Described are controlled, time-release microparticulate active and bioactive compositions (including perfuming compositions) for targeted delivery to surfaces such as skin, hair and fabric and the environment proximate thereto, where the active and bioactive materials have a calculated log.sub.10 P values of between 1 and 8 (P being the n-octanol-water partition coefficient). Such compositions include the active or bioactive material in single phase, solid solution in a wax or polymer matrix also having coated thereon and/or containing a compatible surfactant. Also described are processes and apparatus for preparing such compositions and processes for using same. Furthermore, certain component(s) of the aforementioned compositions in combination with one another are novel, and other components have novel uses in increasing fragrance substantivity, particularly in hair care preparations such as hair gels and shampoos.

An improved amphiphilic diol is prepared with a controlled type and amount of alkylene glycol, catalyst, hydrophobic and hydrophilic diol with diisocyanate and water. Critical selection of the type, molecular weight and ratios of hydrophilic to hydrophobic diol, isocyanate to hydroxyl groups, average molecular weight of the diol component, the amount of water in the reaction mixture produces a polyuretheane having high slip, Shore A Hardness values, wet tensile strength and tear strength. A method is disclosed for producing a fragrance containing solid particle for incorporation into laundry detergent by selecting a fat component such as a fatty acid glyceride, heating said fat component to an elevated temperature sufficient to form a molten melt thereof, selecting a solid surface active agent from the group consisting of SPAN.RTM. surfactants with an HLB of 4.3 to 8.6, heating the surface active agent to form a molten melt thereof and then combining the melts with an aroma chemical to form a mixture. The melt is rapidly cooled to form a solid material.

Formulation of a fat surfactant vehicle containing a fragrance

A hydrophilic, thermoplastic polyurethane polymer of improved dimensional stability and mechanical strength having an average molecular weight of from about 10,000 to about 200,000 produced by reacting (A) an organic diisocyanate with (B) a blend of glycol components comprising (i) ethylene glycol and/or diethylene glycol, (ii) a polyoxyethylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from about 400 to about 20,000 and (iii) a polyoxypropylene glycol having an average molecular weight of from about 200 to about 2500, and (C) water in an amount up to about 0.5% by weight of the reaction mixture. The polymers are particularly useful in the form of a film product such as gloves and condoms. Other uses are as low friction coatings, body implants and active agent release media.

Hydrophilic polyurethanes prepared from mixed oxyalkylene glycols

Hydrophilic polyurethane polymers having carboxy groups in the polymer backbone are prepared by reacting a polyol component, an ester of a carboxylic acid and a polyisocyanate to form a polyurethane intermediate. The intermediate is then saponified and the saponified product neutralized to form free carboxy groups. The water absorption of the intermediates and saponified polymers is above 10% and the polyurethanes may range from rigid solids to gel-like, high water absorptive polymers. Neutralization of the carboxy group with ammonium hydroxide produces a water soluble polyurethane which becomes water insoluble when the ammonia is driven off. The carboxy groups introduced into the polymeric chain provide reactive sites for attachment of various side-groups and also allow for various curing procedures. The polymers exhibit excellent adhesion to various substrates, and are suitable for use as light sensitive photographic layers on films, paper or glass; as boat and pipe coatings for decreasing hydrodynamic drag; as drug delivery systems; as burn and wound dressings; in cosmetic applications; in body implants; as coatings on cannulae; and a host of other applications.
