A valve for sealing the hub of a sheath assembly is provided. The valve includes a valve body having a solid thickness extending between a proximal surface and a distal surface. A bisecting slot extends across the proximal surface of the valve body and terminates at a depth less than the thickness of the valve body such that a portion of the valve body distally of the slot defines a bridge extending between opposed halves of the valve body such that the distal surface of the valve body is substantially continuous and a central portion of the proximal surface of the valve body is concave and defines a concave proximal portion.

Valve for dilator and sheath assembly

Disclosed is a multi-lumen catheter having a distal end catheter tip configured to improve fluid flow into and out from the catheter tip while reducing undesired recirculation during hemodialysis treatment of a patient. A first lumen and a second lumen each extends from the catheter proximal end to the catheter distal end, the first lumen and the second lumen being parallel to each other. A septum having a first side and a second side separates the first lumen from the second lumen. Some embodiments of the catheter tip include a beveled shape region, having a first lumen orifice, a second lumen orifice, and a septum top surface. Within the beveled shape region, at least a portion of the septum first side and at least a portion of the septum top surface form a first eave over the first lumen and at least a portion of the septum second side and at least a portion of the septum top surface form a second eave over the second lumen.

Catheter with tapered self-introducing low-recirculation distal tip

A catheter tunneling adapter including a generally elongated body having a proximal end, a distal end and a through passageway. The proximal end of the adapter is connectable both to a proximal hub of a stylet and subsequently to the distal end of a tunneler. The distal end of the adapter comprises a connector for connecting a plurality of proximal catheter tubes thereto, wherein the proximal end of one tube is affixed within the passageway at the adapter's distal end and the proximal end of the second tube is plugged by a plug extending distally from a free end of an elongate flexible arm that also extends distally of the adapter's distal end, such that the plug is offset laterally therefrom. The flexible arm and the affixed second tube end are deflectable toward the first tube to reduce the profile of the assembly during tunneling.

Catheter tunneler adapter and methods of assembly to a catheter and use

A dilator () for expanding a vessel incision to assist insertion of a catheter thereinto and having a distal end () and a proximal end (). The dilator has two portions () that are assembled together at a hinge () permitting angled-apart proximal ends () of the two portions at the proximal end () to be squeezed together about the hinge which slightly spreads apart the respective distal ends () of the two portions to enlarge the incision into the vessel. A spring () biases apart the proximal ends of the two portions to maintain the two distal ends () together until pried apart as desired to dilate the vessel incision.

Pivoting dilator

A clamp guard for securing to flexible tubing such as catheters and their extension tubes and about a clamp therealong for housing the clamp at least when the clamp is in a tubing-clamping state, to prevent inadvertent contact of the clamp by a foreign body and undesirable unclamping of the clamp. The clamp guard is removable from around the clamp when desired.

Guard for flexible tubing clamp and method of using same

A multiple catheter assembly () including a first catheter () having a first proximal end region (), a first distal end region () terminating in a first distal tip (), and an outer surface () defining at least a first lumen () extending longitudinally therethrough between a first distal and a first proximal opening. The assembly () also includes a second catheter () having a second proximal end region (), a second distal end region () terminating in a second distal tip (), and a second outer surface () defining at least a second lumen () extending longitudinally therethrough between a second distal and a second proximal opening. The first () and second () lumens are independent from each other for facilitating simultaneous flow in opposite directions. The outer surfaces () of the first and second catheters are releasably joined for allowing the first and second distal tips () and first and second proximal end regions () to be at least partially longitudinally split from each other. A method of inserting the catheter assembly () is also provided.

Multiple catheter assembly

A method for inserting a multiple catheter assembly into a patient. The assembly includes a first catheter which includes a first distal end region, a first outer surface defining a first lumen, and a first transition region transitioning cross sections of the first outer surface and the first lumen. A second catheter includes a second distal end region, a second outer surface defining a second lumen, and a second transition region transitioning cross sections of the second outer surface and the second lumen. The outer surfaces of the first and second catheters are releasably joined by a splittable bond for allowing first and second distal tips of the assembly to be at least partially longitudinally split from each other. The method includes steps of separating the first and second distal end regions, and inserting the first and second distal tips through an incision and into an area to be catheterized.

Method for inserting a catheter

Splittable multiple catheter assembly

A clamp () for releasably clamping a catheter, including a body having a first portion (), a second portion (), and a hinge () connecting the first portion and the second portion, such that the first portion is disposed to face the second portion. The first portion () includes a tab () extending distal from the hinge () and wherein the second portion () includes a locking means () for releasably locking the tab () to the second portion (). A method of releasably clamping a plurality of catheter lumens () during catheter insertion and a method of locating a catheter insertion distance based on the location of the clamp are also disclosed.

Methods of implanting a dual catheter

Information-bearing articles () for securing to flexible tubing () such as catheters and their extension tubes, to provide important information about the tubing () such as flow rating or contraindications on types of cleaning fluid not to be used therewith. The devices are provided with large outwardly facing indicia-bearing surfaces () and may be clipped directly to the tubing () at a selected location therealong, or be clipped directly to a clamp member () that is disposed along and around the tubing for clamping the tubing () when desired to occlude fluid flow therethrough. Those devices () clippable to the tubing may have a C-shaped channel () therealong that may be flexed open to be placed about the tubing, which may be temporarily compressed as well to enter the channel, or the devices may be rings () that clip closed about the tubing (). Other devices () are adapted to be clipped to the clamp () by latch projections (). Still others () may be clipped to the tubing () but be adapted to be placed partially around an end or a side of the clamp ().
