A method of digitally printing textile substrates includes pretreating a textile substrate with a solution that is configured to limit penetration of aqueous colorant into fibers of the textile substrate, drying the pretreated textile substrate for a predetermined period of time, and digitally printing one or more aqueous colorants onto the dried textile substrate. The pretreatment solution comprises a polyamine with a quaternary ammonium compound attached to the polyamine backbone. The pretreatment solution may be applied onto one or both sides of a textile substrate.

Direct digital printing methods for textiles

A textile article having flame resistant properties includes a plurality of inherently flame resistant polyester fibers formed into a fabric, and a finish on the fabric including a cyclic phosphonate flame retardant. The finish imparts a property selected from the group consisting of: a molecularly bound antimicrobial agent which is an organosilane, a fluorochemical soil and fluid repellant, and the finished textile article has a flame resistance that passes the standard method NFPA 701-1996 edition testing protocol.

Treated inherently flame resistant polyester fabrics

Three reuasable surgical/medical fabrics provide improved barrier properties, as reflected by their Suter ratings, and also posses a 'hand' similar to a 'cotton hand'. The Suter ratings are degraded in the order of 10%-20% after 100 sterile reprocessing cycles. The fabrics are reliable free of 'voids', permitting their use as a single layer barrier panel. The fabrics are woven, respectively, with false twist 100/100 warp yarns and air texturized core and effect 2/60/100 fill yarns; flat trilobal 100/50 warp yarns and air texturized core and effect 2/60/100 fill yarns; and false twist 2/50/34 warp yarns and false twist 150/200 fill yarns. The fabrics are characterized by a minimum porosity of at least 10.times.10.sup.6 pores/square centimeter and maximum average. and mean pore sizes. The fabrics have a thickness of at least 0.005 inch, a weight of at least 3.5 ounces per square yard and a filament density of at least 2.0.times.10.sup.6 filaments per square inch. Filament density is obtained by increasing the number of picks in the greige construction to at least about 160 in the finished fabric. In two of the fabrics, the bulk of the greige construction is increased by 'mechanically' working the fabric in a 'jet dyeing machine'.

A polyester wrapper fabric having permeability for penetration of steam in sterilization surgical instruments. The fabric is a two by two twill in which the filling yarns are core and affect texturized yarn. A herringbone weave is another embodiment. In other embodiments plain woven portions are combined with the twill and herringbone weaves to minimize ravelling.
