This disclosure describes systems, methods, and devices related to enhanced power management. A device may identify one or more first radio frequency waves received from a second device during a time period. The device may determine a first transmission power associated with a first radio frequency wave of the one or more first radio frequency waves. The device may determine a time-averaged power density associated with the one or more first radio frequency waves. The device may determine a transmission power limit. The device may send an indication of the transmission power limit to the second device.

The methods and devices may be configured to detect whether a body is proximately located based on obtained proximity sensor data; define an upper threshold for a radio frequency (RF) transmit power and a lower threshold for the RF transmit power; calculate an average power of an RF transmitter over a fixed time period; and based on whether the body is detected, the average power, and a comparison of the average power to the upper threshold or the lower threshold, determine whether to apply or remove a power back-off to the RF transmitter.

A wireless communication device includes one or more processors, configured to determine one or more first transmission power measurements within a first transmission power measurement sampling period; calculate a first transmission power factor, the first transmission power factor representing a central tendency of the one or more first transmission power measurements from the first power measurement sampling period; determine a second power measurement during a second transmission power measurement sampling period; and calculate a second transmission power factor, wherein the second transmission power factor is a central tendency of at least one of the one or more first power measurements and the second power measurement.

Transmission power control methods and devices are described. In a transmission power control method, a specific absorption rate (SAR) is calculated based on a transmission power of the communication device and a proximity distance of the communication device with an external object. A time average specific absorption rate can be calculated based on the SAR. A power absorption budget value can be calculated based on the time average specific absorption rate and a time average specific absorption rate threshold value. Further, the transmission power of the communication device can be adjusted based on the power absorption budget value.
