A cab and hood suspension system includes a cab suspension system, a hood suspension system, and a hood tilt system. The cab suspension system includes supporting spring elements and cab linkage configured to control movement of a cab relative to a chassis. The hood suspension system includes hood linkage configured to locate the hood relative to the chassis. The hood linkage is configured to match the movement of the cab linkage. The hood tilt system is provided by the hood linkage of the hood suspension system.

Methods are disclosed for nondestructive testing and measuring the structural health of prestressed concrete structures, such as slabs, columns, girders, bridges, towers, elevated storage tanks, silos, cooling towers, wind power generation towers, liquefied gas storage tanks, nuclear power containment buildings, and the like. Measurements are made as the structure undergoes tensioning and detensioning operations. By measuring actual movements of cardinal points on the structure, in an absolute three-dimensional coordinate system, and comparing the measurements to a model&#x2014;as tension on a tendon is changed&#x2014;a margin of safety is assured. High accuracy measurements are made by electronic distance measurement (EDM) instruments over hundreds of meters, which yield coordinates of cardinal points with an uncertainty of the order of one part per million. The methods are proposed as possible alternatives to prior failures of post-tensioned concrete, including the Las Lomas Bridge, the Kapiolani Interchange On-Ramp, Turkey Point Unit 3 Nuclear Power Plant, and Crystal River Unit 3 Nuclear Power Plant. An extensive review of the most closely related prior arts is included.

Methods for measuring and modeling the process of prestressing concrete during tensioning/detensioning based on electronic distance measurements

Methods are disclosed wherein the structural health of a civil structure, pressure vessel, or the like is measured by electronic distance measurement (EDM) from a plurality of stable locations to a plurality of cardinal points on the structure in a methodical manner. By measuring the coordinates of the cardinal points, the dynamic and long-term static behavior of the structure provide an indication of the health of the structure. Analyses includes: comparison to a Finite Element Model (FEM); comparison to historical data; and modeling based on linearity, hysteresis, symmetry, creep, damping coefficient, and harmonic analysis.

Method for measuring the structural health of a civil structure

A rangefinder system employs three laser rangefinders for determining three dimensional coordinates, each rangefinder using a steerable mirror for aiming the rangefinder beams at a series of retroreflectors. The beams are modulated at 1.5 GHz. The system includes a signal at an offset frequency of 1 kHz for phase detection. A digital phase detector under control of a local computer, as is the mirror, computes phase difference which is used to measure the distances to the retroreflectors. Correction is made for zero point phase drift of the circuit of each rangefinder and a benchmark reference to a distant retroreflector corrects for atmospheric effects on the measurements. A central computer directs the implementation of the tasks of the local computers of each rangefinder and computes and displays trilateration computation results made from the three rangefinders. The system can measure the distance to five different points per second with ranges up to 120 m at all accuracy of about 50 .mu.m.
