The image capture system has an image sensor controller that is configured to control the image sensor. The image capture system has an image processor that is configured to convert the discrete signals into formatted image data. The portable device has a display system having a display screen configured to display formatted image data. The barcode information is used to manipulate the image capture system such that the display screen displays a light simulated barcode.

Modulation of display imagery for barcode simulation

A display screen assembly is suitable for use in a digital device that lacks the processing power, memory, or both needed to carry out light-simulated bar code processing. The display screen assembly includes a display screen having a display area and mounted to a flexible circuit. The flexible circuit includes numerous conductive circuit traces including terminal ends, and various electronic components such as a controller and a screen driver. The various components may be covered by a cover layer, and the display screen including the display area may be covered by a sheet of transparent material. An LED may be generally positioned near an edge or corner of the display screen, and may be may be controlled by a digital device processor or by the controller on the flexible circuit, as desired, for producing light-simulated bar codes.

The present invention is directed towards methods and apparatus for barcode reading and encoding. In accordance with an embodiment, a method of reading and encoding barcode information is provided. A one-dimensional barcode image is decoded using an electronic device to obtain data encoded by the one-dimensional barcode image. The data is encoded into a two-dimensional barcode image. The two-dimensional barcode image is displayed in a manner suitable for reading by a scanner configured for reading two-dimensional barcodes.

Methods and apparatus for barcode reading and encoding

A method of communicating barcode information using audio signaling is disclosed. A mobile device being brought into physical proximity to a communication bridge device is detected. Two-way audio communication is commenced between the mobile device and the bridge device upon detection of the mobile device by the bridge device. Barcode information is communicated from the mobile device to the bridge device. The barcode information is converted into a pulsed signal to simulate scanning of a static image of a barcode. A human perceptible signal is provided that indicates the barcode information has been received into the bridge device. Various types of light source, including those in use in pixel based display devices, may be used for light-simulated bar codes. Liquid crystal displays ('LCD') which utilize a backlight for screen brightness may, for example, be very effective for producing light-simulated bar codes because the entire backlight may be modulated to provide the desired light/dark sequence. Even displays which have no backlight, for example but not limited to OLED and LED displays, may be used for light-simulated bar codes. While the entire display may be used, single pixels or pixel groups of the displays of such displays may be used.

A method and system for backing up and restoring personal data are provided. The method includes establishing a first communication connection between the first communication device and an entity in a remote computer network upon detecting changes of personal data stored in a first communication device; communicating between the first communication device and the remote computer network entity an identity of an archival function to be performed over the first communication connection, wherein the archival function to be performed includes backing up the personal data; performing a backup function by receiving the changed personal data from the first communication device; establishing a second communication connection between a second communication device and the remote computer network entity; and performing a restore function using the second communication connection by transmitting the changed personal data from the remote computer network entity to the second communication device.

A method and system for archiving and restoring data in a portable communication device. A first wireless communication connection is established between the communication device and a remote network capable of storing portable communication device data. The identity of an archival function to be performed is transmitted over the first communication connection. The indicated archival function is performed by transmitting data to or from the communication device. The function can be performed over the first wireless communication connection or a second wireless communication connection can be established for transmitting the information. The data can be converted by an upload converter into a format that is independent of the identity of the communication device. The converted data can be sent to other communication devices and reformatted for use by those devices. The first communication connection can be established by a communication device user or automatically.

The folding sawhorse brackets are each formed of a single sheet of flat stock, formed to affix a rail therein and pivotally attach two legs thereto. All embodiments accept stock dimensions of lumber or other suitable materials for the rail and legs. A first configuration has two brackets, with one having its two leg pivots closer to the rail than the other. The present invention comprises a system for communicating image data and other data. The system comprises a JPEG file having a JPEG data, at least one non-JPEG data, and a computer. The computer is programmed to read a predetermined number of sequential bytes of the non-JPEG data. The computer is also programmed to determine position of each byte in the sequential bytes that contain a JPEG marker and determine a locator byte, which is capable of indicating the position of any bytes in the sequential bytes that contain a JPEG marker. The computer is further programmed to write the locator byte in the JPEG file and write encoded bytes in the JPEG file. The computer writes the encoded bytes in the JPEG file in a manner wherein, for each byte in the sequential bytes, if the byte does not contain a JPEG marker, each byte is replaced with a bit, preferably written as 0, in the order of the byte's occurrence in the sequential bytes. If the byte does contain a JPEG marker, the byte containing a JPEG marker is replaced with a place holder bit, preferably written as 1 and in the order of the byte's occurrence in the sequential bytes.

System and method of storing data in JPEG files

A tubular storage container is adapted for storage and deployment a flexible protective sheet for covering an object. The protective sheet is stowed within an inner chamber of the storage container in a collapsed state. The stowed protective sheet is deployed through an open end of the storage container. An attachment bracket mounted on one end of the storage container secures the storage container to a selected supporting base. A supporting line is connected to the sheet for retracting the sheet from the deployed position and pulling the sheet into the inner chamber of the storage container for storage.
