Bar scoring apparatus with a conveyor for moving a corrugated box in one direction, a first conveyor table that is adapted to align the box and feed it to a scoring press in another direction, perpendicular to the one direction, and a second conveyor table that is adapted to receive the fully-scored box and feed it to a subsequent process in yet another direction, opposite to the one direction. The first conveyor table is inclined downwardly from the conveyor, and includes a datum edge to align the box under the influence of gravity. Once the box is fully-scored, a rotatable frame on the second conveyor table rotates downwardly to a horizontal position for offload of the box.

Bar scoring apparatus

Novel apparatus for assembling box blanks and liners are provided. The apparatus includes supports for stacks of box blanks and liners and a laminating table disposed to receive blanks and liners from the supports. Also included is shuttle apparatus disposed between the supports and the laminating table for gripping and lifting the blanks and liners and taking blanks and liners from the supports to the laminating table and placing them in proper registration. The shuttle apparatus can further include means for dropping the liner onto the blank prior to final registration. The invention is highlighted by a single pushing mechanism for aligning both the blank and liner in a single direction. The invention further includes adhesive applying apparatus which minimizes maintenance due to adhesive overspray and indexing carriers which minimize registration errors.

Apparatus for the manufacture of laminated bulk boxes

Apparatus for folding the panels of a bulk box blank into a tube. Such apparatus is particularly suited to fold the panels of extremely large heavy-weight blanks which are resistant to folding and therefore difficult to fold manually. The apparatus includes a vacuum hold down unit to hold and register the blank in position, folding arm assemblies to successively fold down the outer panels of the blank into a tube, and a hold-down device to restrain the folded panels from springing upward as the folded blank is moved into a compression unit.

Apparatus for picking up a single sheet of semi-rigid material from the top of a stack of such sheets having a device overlying the back end of the stack and holding down that end of the stack, vacuum pick-up shoes to engage the back end of the topmost sheet in the stack, said shoes moving initially to slide the sheet forward from beneath the overlying device and then to lift the back end of the sheet, and a chain conveyor with hooks to engage the raised end of the sheet and feed such sheet into a conveyor for transporting the sheet away from the stack.

A sheet registry device for use in a sheet-handling machine in which a constantly rotating brush exerts a force on the sheet to urge the sheet against a side guide and properly register such sheet in a cross-machine direction while the sheet is being removed in a direction parallel to the guiding surface of the side guide.

Apparatus and method for laminating a liner to a box blank in which a shuttle arrangement is provided to alternately pick up and place liners and blanks in proper registration for lamination. Such apparatus and method includes a shuttle arrangement with a unique vacuum cup suspension system for picking up such liners and blanks and a glue spray station which applies the glue to the liner.
