A dental guard system for fitting boil and bite dental guards so that undesirable deformations of the guard are avoided during the fitting of the guard to the user. The system includes a boil and bite dental guard and an associated forming tray configured to be generally rigid but conformable in that it tends to retain its shape so as to inhibit undesirable deformations of the guard, yet enables the guard to form to the teeth of the user.

A dental flosser having a tongue cleaner, the flosser including a handle terminating at a head: a pair of spaced apart arms extending from the head; a length of dental floss extending between the arms; and a rugous surface on at least one of the arms suitable for being scraped against the tongue of a user for effectively cleaning the tongue.

A custom-fitted dental appliance having a base member with a generally U-shaped horizontal portion with opposing posterior sections and an anterior section disposed between the posterior sections. The base member has a vertical portion connected to a forward edge of the horizontal portion. The vertical portion has an arcuate curvature substantially following the curvature of the anterior section. The appliance includes over-molded molar pads that are bonded to the upper surfaces of the posterior sections of the base member. An over-molded anterior flange is bonded to the vertical portion of the base member. The molar pads and the anterior flange are formed from a thermoplastic material having a Vicat softening temperature below that of the base member. After heating the appliance to above the softening temperature of the over-molded portions, the molar pads and anterior flange may be custom fitted to the upper teeth and gums of the wearer.

A custom-fitted dental appliance prevents grinding contact between upper and lower teeth of a wearer. The appliance includes a base member having a generally U-shaped horizontal portion with opposing posterior sections and an anterior section disposed between the posterior sections. The anterior section has an arcuate curvature substantially matching the curvature of the dental arch of most wearers. The base member has a vertical portion connected to a forward edge of the horizontal portion. The vertical portion of the base member has an arcuate curvature substantially following the curvature of the anterior section. The appliance includes over-molded anterior occlusal pads and molar pads that are attached to the upper surfaces of the base member. An over-molded anterior flange is attached to the vertical portion of the base member. The anterior occlusal pads, molar pads and anterior flange are formed from a thermoplastic material having a Vicat softening temperature below that of the base member. After heating the appliance to above the softening temperature of the over-molded portions, the anterior occlusal pads, molar pads and anterior flange may be custom fitted to the upper teeth and gums of the wearer.

A dental appliance for prevention of Bruxism includes a U-shaped buccal strap having opposing right and left aft end portions. A right bite pad assembly is slidingly connected to and completely encloses the right aft end portion of the buccal strap. A left bite pad assembly is slidingly connected to and completely encloses the left aft end portion of the buccal strap. The right bite pad assembly can include a right upper bite surface member for contacting right upper molars of a wearer and a right lower bite surface member for contacting right lower molars of the wearer. The left bite pad assembly can include a left upper bite surface member for contacting left upper molars of a wearer and a left lower bite surface member for contacting left lower molars of the wearer. A right channel extends through the right upper bite surface member and the right lower bite surface member. A left channel extends through the left upper bite surface member and the left lower bite surface member. The right channel receives the right aft end portion of the buccal strap, and the left channel receives the left aft end portion of the buccal strap.
