A spring loaded actuator assembly includes a first member having a set of rails, a second member configured to translate axially relative to the first member and a third member configured for translational movement within the second tubular member. The second and third members each include a set of ramp-like teeth configured to engage one another when the third member is moved within the second member; and grooves configured to engage the rails of the first member and permit translational movement of the second and third members relative to the first member while preventing rotational movement of the second and third members. A coil spring is disposed between the first and second members wherein translational movement of the second member beyond a predetermined axial position causes the ramp-like teeth of the second member to extend beyond the rails, causing the second member to rotate and the ramp-like teeth to be retained by the rails of the first member, thereby maintaining the coil spring in a compressed condition while enabling the third member to be freely movable axially.

Spring loaded actuator assembly

A damping assembly for a pivoting stowage bin includes a rotary hydraulic damper that is mounted on the pivot axis of the stowage bin. The rotary hydraulic damper includes a damper body that receives a rotor having at least one vane moved through contained hydraulic fluid. Preferably, an exterior bearing surface on the damper precludes the active damping elements from radial loads, while a distributed attachment of the rotor to the pivoting bin enables reduced torque loads. The damper can include an integrated flow-control valve for controlling the opening rate of the pivoting bin as well as an integrated mechanical stop for the bin.

Rotary hydraulic damper for pivoting stowage bin

A rotary hinge assembly includes a hinge housing including at least one interior chamber. A spring disposed within the hinge housing provides a torque on an attached door while in an opened and closed position. A rotor rotatably disposed within the at least one interior chamber includes at least one rotor vane that moves in relation to a stationarily mounted stator having at least one stator vane. A fill plug includes a plurality of entrance and exit holes disposed in relation to the stator and rotor vanes to define a fluidic damper assembly. A valve disposed within the fill plug permits selective adjustment of the fluidic damper by restricting or opening the entrance and exit holes of the fill plug.

Rotary hinge with adjustable damping assembly

A control apparatus associated with a hydraulic lock that contains a piston rod and an operating pin slidably contained within piston rod. A conduit contains a proximal end connected to a push button unit and a distal end connected to a lever arm assembly. The lever arm assembly contains a platform secured to the terminal end of the piston rod and a lever arm rotatably mounted over the operating pin. A cable extends through the conduit between a rocker arm in the push button unit and the lever arm so that when the button is depressed, the operating pin is moved from an inoperative position to an operative position. A locking plate is pivotally mounted upon the distal end of the conduit and arranged to move over the top surface of the platform into locking engagement with the piston rod. A cutout is formed in the plate which engages a groove formed in the terminal end of the piston rod to lock the lever arm assembly to the rod with the lever arm in position to engage the operating shaft.

Control apparatus for hydraulic lock

An overfill preventing valve (20) is adapted to be operatively interposed in a flow path between a fluid source (21) and a compressed fluid storage cylinder (22) to prevent the cylinder from being overly filled. The improved valve includes an elongated tubular body having a first seat (25), a first space (26), a second space (28), a second seat (29), a third space (30), a third seat (31), a fourth space 37 and an entrance portion (32) communicating with a source. A passageway (33) continuously communicates the first and fourth spaces. The second and fourth spaces communicate with the interior of the cylinder. A float (36) is contained within the body for movement toward and away from the first seat in response to the liquid level in the cylinder. A valve member (38) is mounted on the body for sealed movement toward and away from the second seat. This valve member separates the first space from the second space. The valve member is biased to move away from the second seat. A piston (40), separating the third space from the fourth space, is mounted for sealed sliding movement therealong toward and away from the third seat. The piston is biased to move toward the third seat. The piston has a variable-area orifice communicating the entrance portion with the third space. The cross-sectional area of this orifice varies as a function of the direction of the flow. When it is desired to fill the cylinder and the float does not engage the first seat, incoming fluid displaces the piston away from the third seat and flows from the entrance portion into the cylinder via the fourth space. However, when the float sealingly engages the first seat, the valve member is caused to sealingly engage the second seat, and the piston is caused to sealingly engage the third seat to prevent further incoming flow from the source to the cylinder.
