The present invention provides a multilayer multiaxial woven fabric for a papermachine having a reduced interference pattern and accordingly improved dewatering uniformity. The present invention also provides a method of forming such multilayer multiaxial fabric.

A laminated on-machine-seamable industrial fabric made from a flat woven full width base fabric layer wherein the base fabric layer is folded inwardly and flattened to produce a fabric with seaming loops disposed at the two widthwise edges.

Flat woven full width on-machine-seamable fabric

A method of operating a papermaking process containing a press section with at least one press nip is disclosed. The method comprises simultaneously performing the following steps: (a) providing a press media for said papermaking process that has a MFP size that is less than the MFP size of a press media that was originally supplied to said papermaking process; (b) adding an effective amount of one or more press sheet dewatering additives to said papermaking process prior to the last press nip of said papermaking process; (c) providing a sheet moisture ratio of a paper sheet entering a press nip of said press section to between about 2 to about 9; and (d) applying an optimum rate of pressure development at one or more press nips of said papermaking process, wherein said steps a, b, c, and d either: result in the production of a more uniform paper sheet without the reduction in paper solids exiting the press section that would be expected from performing a, c, and d, alone or in combination with one another; or result in the production of a more uniform paper sheet with an increase in solids content of said paper sheet exiting the press section.

Method of operating a papermaking process

The present invention is directed to fabrics for paper making machines that are rendered contamination resistant and maintain good permeability as a result of a durable coating that lasts the entire life of the fabric. A fluoropolymer will render the fabric contamination resistant over the entire fabric lifetime.

Contamination resistant press fabric structure and method of manufacture

A grooved perforated layer for use in a papermakers' fabric is provided. The grooves serve to diffuse flow at the surface of the perforated layer so as to reduce the pressure drop across the layer and thereby reduce the migration of fines. In this manner, the light/dark pattern associated with the fines is avoided and the quality of the resulting paper sheet is improved.

Grooved and perforated layer for use in papermakers' fabric

An industrial process fabric is embossed in a device, such as a continuously operating two-roll calender having a preselected embossing pattern. The roll(s) of the calender may alternatively themselves be engraved or etched to provide the embossing. Embossing takes place with controlled temperature, pressure, speed and gap (between the rolls) settings. The fabric may be a forming, press, dryer or TAD fabric used in paper and pulp production, pulp forming fabric or an engineered fabric used to produce nonwoven textile products by meltblowing, spunbonding, hydroentangling or air laid needle punching.

Embossed fabrics and method of making the same

A method for reducing or eliminating forming fabric edge curl includes slitting or scoring the knuckles formed by cross-machine direction yarns on the long-shute knuckle side of a papermaker's forming fabric. The knuckles are scored or slit to a depth no greater than half the diameter of the cross-machine direction yarns. At least one such slit or score is provided per knuckle. The scoring or slitting has the effect of bringing the ratio between the shrink forces acting on the two sides of the forming fabric in the cross-machine direction closer to unity, and, in turn, reduces or eliminates the edge curl resulting from shrinkage in the cross-machine direction.

Method to reduce forming fabric edge curl

A triple-layer papermaking fabric includes top and a bottom weft yarn layers interwoven with a system of warp yarns. The warp yarn system includes pairs of associated, stacked first and second warp yarns. The first warp yarn in each pair interweaves with the top weft yarns in a plain-weave pattern occasionally broken by an interweaving with a bottom weft yarn to join the top and bottom weft yarn layers together. The second warp yarn in each pair, ordinarily running between the top and bottom weft yarn layers and stacked below the first warp yarn, weaves over the top weft yarn skipped by the first warp yarn when it weaves down under a bottom weft yarn to maintain the plain-weave character of the top surface of the fabric. The second warp yarn never weaves with the bottom weft yarns. The fabric is flat-woven, and subsequently seamed into endless form. The first warp yarns have an exaggerated crimp to provide the fabric with an enhanced seam strength. The second warp yarns, having relatively little crimp, provide the fabric with an enhanced stretch resistance.
