A catheter includes a shaft having at least one lumen. The lumen comprises a longitudinally-extending trough defined by a longitudinally-extending recess, within which a component is disposed, and a longitudinally extending open edge. The lumen further comprises a longitudinally-extending channel defined by a longitudinally-extending cavity and by the open edge of the trough. A planarity wire is disposed within the cavity and is configured to close the open edge of the trough to within a pre-defined tolerance that is less than the size of the component to retain the component in the recess.

Deflectable catheter constructed to inhibit component migration

A method of manufacturing a deflectable electrophysiological catheter includes constructing a shaft having a distal end and at least one lumen. The method further includes inserting a component into the lumen, and processing at least a portion of the distal end to reduce the cross-sectional profile of the lumen to capture/confine the component. A catheter manufactured using this method includes a shaft having at least one lumen. The lumen comprises a longitudinally-extending trough defined by a longitudinally-extending recess, within which a component is disposed, and a longitudinally extending open edge. The lumen further comprises a longitudinally-extending channel defined by a longitudinally-extending cavity and by the open edge of the trough. A planarity wire is disposed within the cavity and is configured to close the open edge of the trough to within a pre-defined tolerance that is less than the size of the component to retain the component in the recess.

Method of manufacturing a deflectable electrophysiological catheter

An assembly for the delivery of a cardiac surgical device is disclosed herein. In one embodiment, the assembly includes a slittable delivery device and a bypass assembly. The slittable delivery device may include a hub, a shaft integrated into the hub and forming at least a segment of the circumferential surface of the hub, and a hemostasis valve contained substantially within the hub. The bypass assembly may include a cap and a valve bypass tool. The cap may be on a proximal end of the hub and may include an opening in the cap extending radially outward from a point near a radial center of the cap through a circumferential edge of the cap. The valve bypass tool may be operably coupled to the cap and may include a longitudinally extending open channel.

Slittable delivery device assembly for the delivery of a cardiac surgical device

A method of manufacturing a catheter includes providing an outer shaft having a lumen therethrough and at least one catheter component disposed at least partially within the lumen, placing an inner shaft within the lumen such that the at least one catheter component is located between the shafts, thereby forming a catheter assembly having an outer surface, and applying energy to the catheter assembly to melt at least the outer shaft to bond the outer shaft to the inner shaft. A unitary catheter shaft having the at least one catheter component substantially embedded therein results. The durometer of the outer shaft may differ from the durometer of the inner shaft, such that the catheter shaft varies radially in durometer. The durometer of the catheter shaft may also vary longitudinally. A shaping wire may be provided to form the distal end of the catheter shaft into a desired shape.

Catheter with embedded components and method of its manufacture

An electrophysiology catheter includes an elongate catheter body having a distal end and a proximal end, a catheter tip including at least one metallic catheter component, such as an electrode, thereon, and at least one internal catheter component joined to the at least one metallic catheter component. The at least one internal catheter component includes a shape memory alloy and a metal compound that is capable of both bonding with the shape memory alloy and being metallurgically joined to the at least one metallic catheter component as by brazing. The metal compound may be a coating on or a core within the shape memory alloy. Suitable metal compounds include, without limitation, nickel, copper, brass, and combinations thereof.

Catheter employing shape memory alloy shaping wire or pull wire and method of its manufacture

A pickup truck bed with a vertically hinged passenger door mounted in a side panel thereof. The door permits passenger ingress and egress to the bed area, and conceals a gas cap behind the door and under the bed. Access to the gas cap and ingress and egress is controlled by a locking mechanism operatively associated with the door.
