A frame container () for packing heavy durable goods in which a base () includes two end frames () connected by pairs of opposing side diagonals () pinned at first ends to the base and at second ends () to the end frames. Each pair of opposing side diagonals () pivot between a first position aligned with the base and the second ends near respective ends of the base and an erected second position whereby the side diagonals are disposed at an oblique angle relative to the base with the second ends of the pair of side diagonals remote from the respective ends of the base for enclosing heavy durable goods within the container.

Foldable end frame container

A frame container () for packing, shipping, and storing heavy durable goods in which a supporting base () includes two pairs of opposing side diagonals () with opposing end frames () pivotally connected to respective second ends () of the opposing side diagonals (). Each pair of opposing side diagonals () pivot between a first position aligned with the base () and the second ends () near respective ends of the base and a second pivoted position whereby the side diagonals are disposed at an oblique angle relative to the base with the second ends of the pair of side diagonals remote from the respective ends of the base and towards the opposing end of the base. The end frames () being thereby pivotable from a shipping position against the base, a first loading position with the end frames pivoted outwardly of the respective end, a second loading position with the end frame pivoted outwardly of the base remote from the respective end and towards the opposing end of the base, and an erected position with the side diagonal at an oblique angle to the base and the frame member extending from the respective end of the base for enclosing heavy durable goods within the container.

Returnable crate

A packing container for enclosing heavy durable goods for storage and shipping having a base frame for supporting an article to be packaged. A pair of opposing wing-end panels are received at opposing ends of the base frame with each wing-end panel comprising a sheet of corrugated paperboard scored to define an end panel separating two side wing panels. A cleat attaches at each side edge and at the scores on each sheet. The side panels fold as wings to cover portions of the opposing sides of the container while leaving a gap on each side between the side edges of the two opposing side wing-end panels. A top frame is received by the pair of opposing wing-end panels. A method of packaging goods in a container is disclosed.

Wing-end wood-cleated corrugated paperboard container and method

A structural member formed from a billet, each member comprising a plurality of elongate corrugated paperboard sheets bonded together with an adhesive and disposed between a top and a bottom cap, each cap comprising at least one ply of a fibreboard sheet, a pair of side caps of a solid fibreboard sheet bonded to respective side faces of the paperboard sheet and to the respective edges of the top and bottom caps. The billet comprises a plurality of structural members each separated by a corrugated paperboard rip-out sheet. A method of manufacture is disclosed in which the billet is built up of structural members and rip-out sheets. The billet is then ripped into planks which are ripped along the rip-out sheets to separate the structural members for use as a substitute member for wood cleats or members.

Method of making a structural member

A hinged-corners unitary collapsible wood cleated crate for packaging heavy goods with a tubular body engaged to a base and top frame. The tubular body is formed of a pair of opposing side frames and a pair of opposing end frames, which frames each have a pair of horizontal rails connected to a pair of vertical side slats at respective overlapping aligned distal ends. Each frame includes at least one diagonal cross-member extending between and attached to the pair of horizontal rails. The side frames and the end frames join together in alternating spaced-apart sequence by a plurality of hinge plates that interconnect one of the pair of vertical slats in one of the side frames with one of the pair of vertical slats in an adjacent end frame. The hinge plates are planar sheets of a weather-resistant material, which are scored to allow the tubular body to knock-down for storage and shipping, and unfold to form a volumed body for packaging heavy goods held on a base. The body receives a top frame, and staples secure the body to the base and the top frame.

Hinged-corners unitary body for wood cleated crate

The present invention provides a cleated crate for packaging, storing, and shipping heavy articles. The cleated crate includes a base frame for supporting an article to be packed, a pair of wing-end frames that define ends and side portions of the cleated crate. The wing-end frames comprise a pair of hinge corners each having a pair of spaced apart cleats attached to a fibreboard plate with a score along an axis. The fibreboard plate folds on the score to define a corner post of the cleated crate. A portion of the side of the cleated crate is defined by a side member and a support member attached to one of the pairs of cleats on the fibreboard plate. Elongate members connect two hinge corners together to define a wing-end frame. A pair of wing-end frames are positioned and attached to opposite ends of a base frame or pallet. Intermediate connectors rigidly connect on opposite sides to aligned hinge corners at the opposite ends of the cleated container. A top frame is dimensioned for receipt by the wing-end frames in the intermediate connectors.

A method of manufacture is disclosed in which the billet is built up of corrugated paperboard sheets. The billet is then ripped into planks for use as a plank, board, or cleat, particularly as components for corrugated paperboard containers. A pallet made of planks and a pallet made of planar sheets cut from the billet are disclosed.

The billet is then ripped into planks for use as a plank, board, or cleat, particularly as components for corrugated paperboard containers. A pallet made of planks and a pallet made of planar sheets cut from the billet are disclosed.

Method for making a structual member

A tubular corrugated paperboard shipping container having a rigid base frame, a cleat-reinforced tubular corrugated paperboard body attached thereto, and a top frame. The corrugated paperboard body includes a pair of spaced-apart attaching strips fixed on opposing side wall panels of the body. One of the pair of attaching strips on each panel is disposed in alignment with a member of the base frame. The other one of the pair of attaching strips is positioned on the panel in alignment with the top frame. Staples driven through the paperboard wall and the attaching strips secure the paperboard container to the base frame and to the top frame to ensure against component separation, thereby providing a cleated container with improved structural rigidity. A plastic sheet in the top frame prevents dust and dirt from entry into the container.

Structural member

A cleated corrugated paperboard container is disclosed having a blank of corrugated paperboard scored to define panels for folding to define a container that wraps around a cast iron bathtub having a well with a rim surface and an apron extending along the side of the well from an edge of the rim. Cleats rigidly attach to the side edges of the panels to define a load bearing frame at the ends of the container.

Cleated corrugated paperboard container

An insert having a central bottom panel with two end panels and two top flanges foldably connected by spaced-apart scores for forming a U-shape insert that is received by a conventional regular slotted container. A pair of elongate members attach to the bottom panel to provide increased bottom rigidity to the container. A pair of cleats attach to each of the side panels and a lower end of the cleat rests on an upper surface of one of the elongate members. A transverse member attaches to each top flange and is supported on an upper end of the cleats. The transverse member supports a top load on the container and the cleats communicate the top load to the elongate members. An enclosed container is disclosed for holding an article on the elongate members by wrapping the insert and the article thereon with a film.

Wood-cleated corrugated paperboard insert for lawnmower container

An integral socket attached to a base for receiving an end of a vertical cleat in a corrugated paperboard container, the socket having a bottom skirt for aligning the socket to a side face of a member of the base and a top skirt for restraining the vertical cleat from moving out of the socket. A cavity defined in the socket receives therein a tenon at the end of the vertical cleat.
