A cable television (CATV) entry adapter connects to a CATV network and serves as a hub in an In-Home Entertainment (IHE) network. IHE signals may be communicated between passive and active ports of an embodiment of the entry adapter through a pair of directional couplers which allow an IRE-enabled embedded multimedia terminal device (eMTA) at the passive port to communicate with multimedia devices of the IHE network connected to the active ports. An IHE frequency rejection filter is used in some embodiments to confine IHE signal to a single subscriber premise. In some embodiments a bidirectional IHE bandpass filter is used to enable IHE signals to pass between the passive and active ports of the CATV entry adapter.

A cable television (CATV) entry device includes an input port configured to be connected to a CATV network, a diplexer having a low pass terminal, a high pass terminal, and a common terminal. The low pass terminal is electrically connected to input port. The entry device includes a first port electrically connected to the common terminal, and a first splitter electrically connected to the high pass terminal. The entry device includes MoCA ports, each connected to an output terminal of the first splitter. The first splitter is configured to bidirectionally communicate MOCA signals between the MoCA ports. The diplexer and the first splitter are configured to bidirectionally communicate the MoCA signals between each of the MoCA ports and the first port. The diplexer is configured to prevent the MoCA signals from being communicated to the input port.

An entry device for a cable television (CATV) network includes an input port configured to receive CATV signals from the CATV network, a first splitter electrically connected to the input port, an active signal path electrically connected to the first splitter, a passive signal path electrically connected to the first splitter, a second splitter electrically connected to the active signal path, and active ports electrically connected to the second splitter.
