A valve system includes a motor, a first valve, a second valve, and a controller. The first valve is connected to the motor shaft and is rotatable to an open position, in which fluid flows through a first channel, and a close position, in which fluid is prevented from flowing through the first channel. The second valve is connected to the motor shaft and is rotatable to an open position, in which fluid flows through a second channel from a first end to a second end, and to a close position, in which fluid is prevented from flowing through the second channel. The controller is connected to the motor and can sequentially actuate the first valve and the second valve to create at least a first, second, third, and fourth position.

Disclosed are exemplary embodiments of apparatus and methods for slow-opening and fast-closing of a gas valve. In an exemplary embodiment, a gas valve generally includes an inlet, and at least one bi-directional metering orifice configured to discharge gas from the inlet in a first direction in the gas valve to provide a slow opening of the gas valve, and to discharge gas in a second direction in the gas valve to provide a fast closing of the gas valve.

Slow opening and fast closing gas valves and related methods

An apparatus is provided for a heating appliance that includes a manually-opened pilot valve that is held in an open position when a sufficient voltage is applied to a valve operator, and a thermocouple that converts heat from a pilot flame into a voltage that is applied to the valve operator. The apparatus includes a voltage measuring circuit that provides an output indicative of a magnitude of the voltage generated by the thermocouple, and a light emitting device. A controller is coupled to the voltage measuring circuit and the light emitting device. The controller is configured to establish, based on the output indicative of the magnitude of the voltage generated by the thermocouple, a switch sequence for switching the light emitting device on and off in a flashing manner, to provide an indication of when the magnitude of the voltage is sufficient to cause the valve operator to hold the gas valve open.

Apparatus for indicating level of pilot flame output

A clamping apparatus is provided that includes a first clamp component having a center portion, and a first set of flexible fingers and second set of flexible fingers disposed on opposing sides of the center portion. The first and second sets of flexible fingers extend angularly in a direction towards the center portion such that the first set of flexible fingers extend in a generally opposing directions from the second set of flexible fingers. The clamping apparatus includes a second clamp component having a center portion, and a first set of flexible fingers and second set of flexible fingers disposed on opposing sides of the center portion. The first and second sets of flexible fingers extend angularly in a direction towards the center portion such that the first set of flexible fingers extend in a generally opposing direction from that of the second set of flexible fingers.
