Disclosed is a device for boring holes in ice having a vertical boring position and a horizontal carrying position. The device is comprised of a drive unit with an output, a rotatable shank portion and auger portion coupled to the output. A non-driven grasping portion is connected to the drive unit and configured such that the device has a balance point at the grasping portion whereby the device may be carried in a balanced horizontal position with one hand. In a preferred embodiment a hollow cylindrical portion with a flange attaches to the drive unit and the shank portion extends through the cylindrical portion and is coupled to the out in the cylindrical portion. The grasping portion may either be the cylindrical portion or a separate bar portion attached to the cylindrical portions.

An infant stroller convertible to an infant trailer towable behind a cycle includes a tubular frame having a lower frame portion and an upper frame portion. The upper frame portion supports a flexible infant holder or seat. With the front wheel removed, the stroller becomes a trailer when connected to a cycle by a quick release trailer-cycle hitch assembly. The assembly includes a fork plate, yoke portion and bicycle hitch end which safely and securely interconnects the trailer to the bicycle frame.

A foldable infant trailer is convertible into an infant trailer towable behind a cycle. The convertible stroller and trailer includes a tubular frame having a lower frame portion and an upper frame portion. The upper frame portion supports a flexible infant holder or seat. The upper frame portion is also foldable down upon the lower frame portion. With the front wheel removed, the stroller becomes a trailer when connected to a cycle by a trailer-cycle hitch assembly. The assembly includes a fork plate, yoke portion and bicycle hitch end which safely and securely interconnects the trailer to the bicycle frame.

A shielded housing for a computer or the like including top and bottom housing parts. The top housing part includes a top wall and two side walls. The bottom housing part includes bottom, front and back walls. An inverted V-shaped channel is carried by the side walls adjacent the lower edges for a cooperating fit between the channels and upturned flanges carried by the bottom wall planar surface. The inner surfaces of the housing parts include shielding for reduction of electrostatic noise from the enclosure. The cooperating fit between the channels and bottom wall flanges provide and improved side wall junction to prevent electrostatic noise from leaking along the side wall edges.

A control for a window operator is operable to control incremental movement of a window. The control includes means for developing a command to selectively move the window in a direction to an open or closed position, and means for determining when a plurality of motor drives have moved the window a preselected incremental distance. Means are coupled to the developing means and the determining means for energizing each of the motor drives if a command is developed, until the motor drives have moved the window the preselected incremental distance and thereafter deenergizing the motor drives until another command is received to move the window a subsequent incremental distance in the selected direction.

Window operator control

A window operator has a prime mover for opening and closing of a window, with the prime mover being drivingly connected to a drive output member through an intermediate gear structure. A clutch device in the drive structure senses the torque applied to the drive output member in a window closing operation and a switch operable by the clutch is effective to deenergize the prime mover when the torque applied to the output member reaches a predetermined value. The switch can be adjustably located relative to the clutch whereby the predetermined value at which the motor will be deenergized may be varied in order to obtain a desired tension on a member connected to the closed sash of the window, such as a chain connected to the sash of a skylight window.

Window operator

A handrail positioning apparatus for use along a stairway is disclosed. The apparatus provides a pivot support fixed to a wall or other support structure to allow positioning of a handrail at at least two different laterally displaced positions. One position can be provided so that the positionable handrail is as close as 22 inches from a second, fixed position handrail disposed opposite the positionable handrail along the stairway. A second position of the handrail occurs in a vertically folded position of the pivoting apparatus bringing the handrail into a position substantially adjacent the support structure, which opens the stairway to about its full width.

Control for operating a plurality of window operators

A passive passenger restraint is provided which includes a self-supporting deformable U-shaped restraining bar having a pair of parallel connecting arms that extend forwardly and are supported by hinges at their forward ends with a lap bar joining their rearward ends. The lap bar extends between the rear ends of the arms so that upon impact a portion of the energy is absorbed as the lap bar bends the rear ends of the connecting arms. To assist in holding the bar assembly in place, a flexible restaining strap is provided to extend over and encircle the upper aspect of the arms. The ends of the strap are held securely in place on either side of the seat on which the passengers are seated. The strap is able to slide across the upper surface of the arms to that upon impact the tension in the strap bends the arms towards one another as their upper ends bend forwardly.

A leg exercise orthosis supports the leg of a patient while causing movement of the hip, knee, and ankle joints. The apparatus includes a frame; a femur support; a tibia support which is pivotally connected to the femur support; a double four-bar linkage which connects the frame, the femur support, and the tibia support; and a drive motor connected to the double four-bar linkage. As it is driven by the drive motor, the double four bar linkage guides motion of the femur and tibia supports so that femur support pivots about a virtual pivot axis which essentially corresponds to the pivot axis of the hip joint of the leg.
