A sealed cable control system having an integral, internal air transfer system constructed and arranged to provide a continuous passage comprising a series of integral, internal unrestricted passages within and through the control system to maintain a relatively uniform pressure within the boots and conduit and within the cable control system as the end members of the cable control system reciprocate. An air transfer system which includes air transfer fittings sealed to a tube therebetween to allow an efficient transfer of air within the system, thereby permitting the maintenance of a closed constant volume, constant pressure environment.

Sealed cable control system

A cable control system including an adjustment device comprising a housing, a conduit fitting member mounted for reciprocating movement within the housing and adapted to be connected to the conduit of a cable system through which a cable strand extends. A spring yieldingly urges the housing in one direction. A ratchet gear is rotatably mounted in the housing and supports a pinion gear which engages teeth on the conduit fitting member. The ratchet gear has teeth with a pitch diameter greater than the pitch diameter of the teeth on the pinion gear and the teeth on the pinion gear are larger than the teeth on the ratchet wheel so that there are a greater number of teeth on the ratchet wheel than on the pinion. A removable ratchet detent engages the teeth on the ratchet wheel. In one form, the device automatically adjusts to change the tension on the cable conduit. In another form, the device is unlocked to provide an adjustment.

Cable control system with adjustment device

A cable control system for releasing a spring loaded device such as a latch or brake by a cable wherein one end of the strand of the cable is connected to the latch and the other end thereof is attached to a member that is yieldingly urged in a direction to maintain tension on the strand. An operating lever is pivoted adjacent the member and an arm is pivoted to said lever such that movement of the lever in one direction will cause the arm to engage the member and apply tension to the strand to release the latch.

Cable control system

An automatic control device for cable control systems comprising a first member adapted to be fixed, a second member connected to the conduit of a cable control system, and a third member interposed between the first member and the second member. The third member has one-way ratcheting teeth engaging complementary teeth on the first member. A spring is interposed between the third member and the second member. The second member includes circumferentially spaced helical teeth that engage complementary grooves in the first member. The second member further includes circumferentially spaced longitudinally extending ribs which engage the grooves of the third member. The device includes a mechanism for locking the parts together against longitudinal movement. When the mechanism is released, the force of the spring urges the second member axially away from the first member and the ratcheting teeth permit the second member to rotate relative to the first member, thereby elongating the conduit relative to a core element that extends through the first member and second member. After adjustment, the one way clutch defined by the ratchet teeth permits relative rotation in one direction only by preventing rotation between the third member and the first member thus preventing axial inward movement between the first member and second member. This retains the adjusted position.

Automatic adjustment device for cable control systems

A spring clip cable support assembly for use with a cable comprising an outer conduit and an inner flexible cable extending through the conduit comprising a body having an opening therethrough and having a radial flange intermediate its ends, a spring clip pressed about a portion of the body and a resilient tubular seal member within the body. The spring clip has one end engaging the flange of the body and includes a first set of axially extending spring fingers having free ends extending radially outwardly and a second set of resilient spring fingers having free ends extending radially inwardly into the recess in the body. A portion of the body is crimped on a conduit and then the body and spring assembly are inserted through an opening in a wall or bracket with the wall extending the radial flange on the body. As the assembly is inserted into the opening, the first set of spring fingers are compressed radially inwardly and then spring outwardly locking the assembly and conduit in place and the second set of fingers engage the groove in the body.

Spring clip cable support assemblies

A constant force self adjusting cable control device comprising a first member and a second member pivoted to one another about a pivot point, a tension spring connected to the first and second members and yieldingly urging the first and second members in a direction to cause movement about the pivot point and a cable attached to each of the first and second members. The cables are axially aligned such that the axis of the tension spring and the axis of the cables are substantially parallel. The angular displacement between the points of attachment of the spring and the cable and the pivot point on one member forms an angle equal to the angle of the point of attachment of the spring and the cable of the other member and the pivot point whereby substantially constant tension is provided on each of the cables. The device further includes a one-way latch which automatically releases when there is any slack in the cables thereby permitting relative movement between the two members until the tension on the cables is re-established.
