A relatively compact implantable medical device includes a fixation member formed by a plurality of fingers mounted around a perimeter of a distal end of a housing of the device; each finger is elastically deformable from a relaxed condition to an extended condition, to accommodate delivery of the device to a target implant site, and from the relaxed condition to a compressed condition, to accommodate wedging of the fingers between opposing tissue surfaces at the target implant site, wherein the compressed fingers hold a cardiac pacing electrode of the device in intimate tissue contact for the delivery of pacing stimulation to the site. Each fixation finger is preferably configured to prevent penetration thereof within the tissue when the fingers are compressed and wedged between the opposing tissue surfaces. The pacing electrode may be mounted on a pacing extension, which extends distally from the distal end of the device housing.

Interventional medical device and method of use

The present invention may comprise an improvement to the prior art leads as disclosed above. In a preferred embodiment, the invention comprises an intravenous medical electrical lead that includes an elongated lead body. The elongated lead body comprises a length between a proximal end and a curved distal end, the lead body defining a longitudinal axis extending between the proximal end and the curved distal end. The lead body having an outer circumference and provided with a set of electrodes circumferentially spaced apart. Each electrode includes an electrically active portion and an insulated portion at an outer circumference of the electrode. The lead body is further configured to move through a coronary vein while substantially retaining its curved distal end. The lead body may freely move longitudinally within a delivery catheter that guides the lead to myocardial tissue. If the lead body rotates within the delivery catheter, the lead body is configured to rotate back into a position such that the electrically active portion of a set of electrodes faces myocardial tissue when exiting the guide catheter while the insulated portion of electrode are diametrically opposed to neural tissue such as the phrenic nerve.

Interventional medical systems, devices, and methods of use

A medical electrical lead and a method of its use. The lead has an elongated lead body having an outer circumference and provided with an electrode. A push tube is mounted circumferentially around the lead body and the lead body is longitudinally movable with respect thereto. A fixation helix is mounted to the push tube, extending along a generally helical axis around the outer circumference of the lead body. The lead may be employed by advancing the lead to a desired location for the fixation helix and then rotating the push tube to secure the helix to tissue. The lead body may then be moved longitudinally with respect to the push tube to place the electrode in a desirable location.

Active fixation medical electrical lead

The present disclosure may comprise an improvement to the prior art leads as disclosed above. One embodiment is directed to an intravenous medical electrical lead that includes an elongated lead body. The elongated lead body comprises a length between proximal and distal ends with a longitudinal axis extending therebetween. The distal end of the lead body includes a plurality of electrodes forming first and second pairs of electrodes. The first pair of electrodes comprises one electrode electrically connected to another electrode circumferentially and diagonally spaced apart along the longitudinal axis. The second pair of electrodes comprising one electrode electrically connected to another electrode circumferentially and diagonally spaced apart along the longitudinal axis.

Medical electrical lead

A medical electrical lead having an elongated lead body and a fixation helix extending along a generally helical axis, mounted around the outer circumference of the lead body. The fixation helix has a free end spaced from and extending from the lead body for less than the circumference of the lead body. The lead body includes an additional component which provides a rotation stop extending from the outer circumference of the lead body and provides stop surface generally perpendicular to the axis of the helix.

A lead coupling device adapted for coupling to a lead and methods for using the coupling devices are provided. The coupling device includes a housing assembly having a proximal opening and a distal opening. The coupling device also has a lead receiving channel that is disposed between the two openings to receive a lead therethrough. Various electronics components may also included in the coupling device that enable operations such as sensing, delivery of electrical energy and wireless communication between the coupling device and an external device.

Remote lead implant testing

An implantable lead for placement by means of a guide wire passing therethrough. The lead has an elongated insulative lead body with an axially extending lumen through at least a distal portion of the lead body. A conductor is mounted within and extends to an electrode assembly mounted to a distal portion of the lead body. A seal housing with a seal located therein located at a distal end of the lead body. The seal is located generally perpendicular to the axis of the lead body and is concave on both its proximal and distal sides. The housing is provided with a cavity adjacent each of the seal's proximal and distal sides, into which the seal may be deflected. The electrode assembly may be mounted to the seal housing.

An apparatus and method to discriminate cardiac events by sensing atrial and ventricular depolarizations having associated refractory periods thereafter. A fast ventricular rate is detected in response to the sensed ventricular depolarizations. Responsive to detecting the fast ventricular rate, at least one stimulus pulse is delivered to atrial tissue within the associated refractory period of the ventricle but outside of an associated refractory period of the stimulated atrial tissue. A ventricular response to the atrial tissue stimulus pulse is determined, and the cardiac event is discriminated based on the ventricular response to the atrial tissue stimulus pulse.

Using focal myocardial stimulation to distinguish supraventricular tachycardia from ventricular tachycardia

A single-pass pacing lead capable of sensing and pacing both the atria and the ventricles is described. In some examples, the single-pass pacing lead is connected to a DDD pacemaker. In some examples, the single-pass pacing lead comprises four electrodes. In some examples, the lead includes three electrodes configured to be positioned in or near an atrium, e.g., the right atrium, and one electrode configured to be positioned in or near a ventricle, e.g., the left ventricle, when the lead is implanted. In other examples, the lead includes two electrodes configured to be positioned in each of the atrium and ventricle when the lead is implanted. In some examples, one of the electrodes, which is configured to be positioned proximate the coronary sinus ostium when the lead is implanted, comprises a helical element for fixation of the lead to tissue.

Single-pass left-sided DDD pacing lead

A multi-conductor medical electrical lead comprises a connector located at a proximal end of the lead, one or more electrodes located at a distal end of the lead and a co-radial multi-conductor coil connecting the connector with the electrode(s), wherein the coil has a lead body region with co-radially wound conductors and has an inductance greater than or equal to approximately 1.5 &#x3bc;H.
