A quick change oil filter incudes a filter canister and filter base that may be installed and removed manually from an engine adapter on an internal combustion engine. The filter canister and filter base may hold at least about one third of the required engine oil supply when removed from the engine adapter. The engine adapter includes an oil inlet passage, an oil outlet passage, and a filter base mounting cavity. A check valve is biased to close an oil outlet opening from the filter canister, trapping oil inside the filter canister when it is removed from the engine adapter.

An aerator having a flexible frame for use on sloped or undulating ground surfaces of golf courses and other turf. The aerator includes a pair of frame sections linked together at a horizontal pivot axis, one of the frame section supporting a coring head. A ground sensor is pivotably attached to one of the frame sections so that the ground sensor may pivot in response to changes in ground slope and provide output relating to the magnitude of the change. Based on the output, a flex frame actuator pivots the pair of frame sections with respect to each other.

A mounting assembly to mount the base of a hydraulic motor on a mower deck includes a cast iron mounting plate having stiffening structures around the perimeter and spanning the perimeter, and rubber isolators between the mounting plate and the mower deck.

A hood covers an internal combustion engine on the rear of a grass mowing machine. The hood has a top surface with a plurality of air intake openings recessed below the top surface, and an integral air duct. The integral air duct extends over the engine between the air intake openings and an air inlet side of the radiator and/or oil cooler adjacent the rear of the grass mowing machine. The air intake openings closest to the air inlet side of the radiator and/or oil cooler are dimensioned to limit the air intake velocity and prevent buildup of debris on screens or grilles over the openings.

Hood with integral air duct

A modular operator enclosure is provided for a wheeled vehicle such as a front mount mower or utility vehicle. The enclosure is provided with interconnected front and rear roll-bar structures which serve as a framework upon which a variety of enclosure elements can be attached. Selectively attachable to the framework are a roof element, a front windshield, rear and/or side windows and doors. Glass and metal or flexible windshields, windows and doors are available to meet differing use and weather needs. The module and its elements are quickly and easily assembled at the dealership, thereby enabling them to be shipped in a compact form. The module design provides the dealership and/or user with the option of initially equipping the enclosure with a minimum of elements and then later adding or changing the elements to thereby minimize cost and/or effort.

Modular operator enclosure

A hydraulic valve assembly configured for controlling the elevation and operation of a mowing deck of a power mower. The valve assembly includes a housing having a valve spool positionable in four positions, a cylinder activation position, a neutral position, a cylinder relief and motor start position, and a motor run position. In the cylinder activation position pump pressure is connected to a deck raising cylinder. In the neutral position, a status quo is maintained, and pump is vented to tank. In the cylinder relief and motor start position, the mowing deck, if elevated, is lowered under its own weight by relieving pressure on the deck cylinder, and the mowing motor is started in operation under low pressure. In the motor run position, the motor is connected to high pressure, and the deck cylinder continues to be vented to tank.

Hydraulic valve assembly

A hydraulic system for a vehicle adapted for operating a plurality of reel mower cutting units and for driving at least one vehicle component such as drive wheels or power steering. The vehicle carries an engine near the front of the vehicle which generates heat. The system includes a fluid reservoir located remote from the engine and near the rear of the vehicle. An input line is coupled with the reservoir, and a first pump is operatively coupled with the input line. A first motor receives fluid from the first pump for driving a reel mower, and a branched line having first and second branches receives fluid from the first motor. The first branch is a first return line extending to the reservoir. A second pump having a lower capacity than the first pump is operatively coupled with the second branch, and a second motor receives fluid from the second pump for driving the vehicle component. A second return line receives fluid from the second motor and is coupled with the input line for allowing fluid from the second motor to flow to the first pump without first flowing to the reservoir.
