Systems and methods are provided for inline process monitoring (e.g., remote inline process monitoring) for scalable and precision high-yield manufacturing. Antenna probes, such as millimeter (mm) wave (mmWave) antenna (mWA) probes, can be introduced into fabrication equipment to reveal the nature of hidden conductor and/or dielectric defects, as well as via-pad and/or device pad-trace misalignments, going beyond automated optical inspection (AOI) or contact probing.

Inline monitoring system for process defects during manufacturing

Systems and methods are provided for simultaneous beamforming at two close frequency bands. Rotman-lens-based beamforming modules with low size, weight, and power (SWaP) can be used. A stacked array Rotman lens module can use a low cost feeding type of layer-to-layer energy transitions, and the stacked module can be capable of simultaneous beamforming at two close frequency bands.

A wireless power transfer and harvesting system that can be integrated with fabric is provided. The wireless power transfer and harvesting system includes a transmitter antenna for wirelessly transferring power and a receiver antenna operatively coupled to the transmitter antenna for receiving the power. At least one of the transmitter antenna and the receiver antenna can be formed with a shape of an anchor to inhibit effects of lateral and/or angular positional misalignments of the transmitter antenna or the receiver antenna upon power transfer efficiency of the system.

Systems and methods for beamforming based on mixing elements together instead of conventional phase shifting are provided. A beamformer can be used to cross-mix the elements with one another to compensate for delays in signal reception. By replacing phase shifters with mixers, the system becomes agnostic to frequency of operation and angle of arrival.

Systems and methods for a low-cost smart textile electronic (tex-tronic) useful for wound healing assessment are provided. Data collection can be accomplished by reflection of the modulated wound-data to an interrogator. The RF modulation of the data can be done by a textile-based voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) that takes the electric signal provided by electrochemical sensing of the uric acid found in the wound fluid. The low-cost smart textile electronic uses low-cost materials and is easy to manufacture and use by any patient or medical professional.

Baluns and antenna devices that achieve improved antenna isolation for simultaneous transmit and receive (STAR) antennas are provided. A tunable balun can be used to compensate for amplitude imbalances in a multi-antenna radio, and/or an antenna agnostic feed network can be used to improve isolation in a single antenna radio. The balun can be integrated directly into the antenna. The balun can control the amplitude of each signal to ensure they are equal, resulting in greater transmitter interference cancellation.

Antenna devices that include a frequency selective surface (FSS) resistive card (R-card) to suppress ground plane interference are provided. The antenna device can include a tightly coupled dipole array (TCDA), and the FSS R-card can be a saw-tooth ring that only attenuates the intended frequencies. The antenna device can be an extremely wideband phased array with integrated feeding network and spatial scanning down to 60&#xb0;.

Antenna devices to suppress ground plane interference

Feed networks and methods of using the same to achieve high levels of self-interference cancellation (SIC) in Simultaneous Transmit and Receive (STAR) systems are provided. SIC at the antenna feed network alone can be as high as 100 dB. This can be done by employing entirely low-cost, low-profile passive circuits. The feed network creates a perfect anti-phase path that cancels the high power self-interference signal at the receive port.

Systems and methods for beamforming using a cross-mixing architecture are provided. A beamformer can use an element-to-element mixing concept and can avoid the use of conventional bulky analog phase shifters. Incident signals can be sent through a phase-locked loop and then mixed with a signal from an antenna element oppositely spaced about a phase center of the antenna element array. Beamformers can be integrated into existing hybrid structures by substituting the traditional analog part of the beamforming process.

Example systems and methods described herein relate to radio communication architectures and techniques for beamforming and down-conversion without a priori knowledge of the source location or frequency. An example radio receiver includes a plurality of antenna elements that include a first element, a second element, and a third element. The radio receiver also includes a plurality of mixers coupled to the plurality of antenna elements and a combiner coupled to the plurality of antenna elements. A signal incident on the first element is mixed with itself via a first mixer of the plurality of mixers. An output of the first mixer is mixed with a signal incident on the second element via a second mixer of the plurality of mixers, and an output of the second mixer is combined via the combiner with a signal incident on the third element.

A balanced wideband impedance transformer can include a first conductor layer including a first metal line and a second metal line, a second conductor layer including a first feed line and disposed on the first conductor layer, a third conductor layer including a second feed line and disposed on the second conductor layer, and a fourth conductor layer including a third metal line and a fourth metal line, and disposed on the third conductor layer.

Balanced wideband impedance transformer

According to the embodiments described herein, a stretchable RFID device can include an RFID chip and an RFID antenna. The RFID antenna can be electrically coupled and mechanically attached to the RFID chip. The RFID antenna can be impedance matched to the RFID chip across a broad bandwidth and can include two arms. Each of the two arms can include an end-loading body that at least partially surrounds an end-loading orifice. The end-loading body can stretch without consuming the end-loading orifice.

A method of making a stretchable and flexible electronic device includes the steps of creating a computer aided design using a computer modeling software system of the electronic device; digitizing the computer aided design and importing the design into a computer memory of a sewing machine capable of performing embroidery; using the sewing machine and a conductive thread to embroider the design on to a fabric substrate to create the electronic device, whereby the electronic device comprises at least a portion of conductive threads; removing the fabric substrate from the electronic device using heat; coating the electronic device with a polymer.

A circularly polarized horn antenna can comprise a rectangular waveguide, a hexagonal waveguide connected to the rectangular waveguide, a first transition part connected to the hexagonal waveguide, and a horn connected to the first transition part. The horn can include a first corrugated inner surface, and the first transition part can include a second corrugated inner surface.
