An improvement to a standardized design of a body for small-bore connectors for liquids and/or gases in a healthcare application, wherein the body has a spout with a standardized upper portion. The upper portion can have a standardized external thread or can have a different size and shape for the external thread. The body can have a standardized internal flange or another differently sized and shaped internal flange. The body can have an internal void though which the liquids and/or gases flow. At least a portion of the standardized internal flange or another internal flange can be eliminated or removed to reduce a flow restriction caused by the standardized internal flange and thus increase a flow area of the internal void.

Cap for spout and modified spout

A system for containing and transporting a medical device may include a container including a bottom face and surrounding side faces as a closed first end and an open second end to form an inner portion for receiving and retaining the medical device. At least a portion of one or more of the side faces may have an indentation extending along a length of the respective side face. A liner and cover may be removably enclosable about the container. The liner may be extendable over the side faces to line the inner portion of the container. The cover may enclose the medical device in the container between the liner and cover. The indentation may be formed into the inner portion of the container. The container may be compatibly receivable in a first transportation device in a first orientation.

Medical device transportation systems

An inflatable packaging assembly (10) comprising a container (12) and a flexible bag (28). The container (12) has a base (14) and a number of upstanding walls (16) extending from the base (14) to a container opening (18) for receiving and storing a package item (20). One of the upstanding walls (16) includes an aperture (26) passing through the wall (16). The bag (28) includes first (30) and second (32) bag panels having peripheral edges (34) sealed together to define an inflatable chamber. A bag opening (36) extends through a portion of the sealed edges (34) for receiving a fluid medium to inflate the bag (28). A filling valve (38) extends through the bag opening (36) and into the inflatable chamber. The filling valve (38) includes a flexible sealing port (40) and a filling tube (46). The filling tube (46) has a first end (48) secured to the sealing port (40) and a semi-rigid second end (50) extending out from the bag opening (36). The semi-rigid second end (50) is inserted through the aperture (26) in the container (12) and removably secured to one of the walls (16), whereby the bag (28) is positioned in the container (12) to overlay the packaging item (20) and the bag (28) is inflatable by the fluid medium received through the filling tube (46) in the aperture (26) of the upstanding wall (16).

Inflatable packaging assembly

An inflatable flexible pouch having two inner webs positioned between two outer webs. The two inner webs are attached to each other so as to form a channel between both inner webs. Each outer web and each inner web forms a body portion and a neck portion or throat opening. A first outer web is sealably attached to a first inner web and a second outer web is sealably attached to a second inner web, both sealed attachments are positioned at least partially across the neck portion or throat opening of the aligned webs. At least one inner inflatable chamber is formed between both inner webs and positioned within the outer inflatable chamber for providing increased rigidity of the inflated pouch structure. When the flexible pouch is in an inflated condition, communication is preferably closed between each inner inflatable chamber and each outer inflatable chamber, and the inner inflatable chamber is at least partially inflated, for providing even more rigidity. Increased rigidity is particularly beneficial when using a straw or fill tube inserted within the channel for the purpose of holding or otherwise displaying the inflatable flexible pouch.

An inflatable flexible pouch having two inner webs positioned between two outer webs. The two inner webs are attached to each other so as to form a channel between both inner webs. Each outer web and each inner web forms a body portion and a neck portion or throat opening. A first outer web is sealably attached to a first inner web and a second outer web is sealably attached to a second inner web, both sealed attachments are positioned at least partially across the neck portion or throat opening of the aligned webs. The outer webs and the inner webs are sealably attached about a general periphery of the body portion and along both side sections of the neck portion or throat opening. A throat opening is formed within the neck portion between both inner webs and such throat opening is in communication with the channel and with an ambient atmosphere which is external to or surrounds the inflatable flexible pouch. At least one inner inflatable chamber is formed between both inner webs and positioned within the outer inflatable chamber for providing increased rigidity of the inflated pouch structure.
