A controlled environment capsule for fluxless brazing comprising an open-bottom box, an end-plate and a foil gasket sealing means. Diffusion plates are disposed within the interior of the box and connected to an external source of inert gas. The inert gas is uniformly distributed over the work piece, excluding air from the capsule and the work piece by being maintained at a positive pressure relative to the external environment.

Controlled atmosphere capsule for fluxless brazing

A system for the addition of a corrosion inhibitor to an engine cooling system wherein a container in the coolant system holds the corrosion inhibitor in a solid package which is withheld from contact with the coolant solution by a spring under load. The inhibitor package is counterbalanced by a pair of opposed springs with one spring being subject to corrosion when the corrosive effect of the coolant increases; corrosion of the spring allowing the inhibitor package to be urged into contact with the solution to provide treatment thereof.

Device to automatically add a controlled amount of corrosion inhibitor

A membrane for the end surface of a container housing a corrosion inhibitor for engine coolant where the membrane is exposed to the coolant and corrodes when the corrosiveness of the coolant increases above a predetermined level. The membrane is formed of substantially the same metal or alloy as the radiator and has a thin layer thereon of a second metal so that in a corrosive environment, a galvanic cell is set up between the two metals to enhance the rate of corrosion of the membrane.

A process of forming powdered metal into finished or near-finished, high-strength, structural parts of complex configurations wherein a metal powder preform is heated to a temperature of approximately 2100.degree. F and formed at relatively low pressures in the range of approximately 19 to 39 tons per square inch over a short contact time interval in a preheated forming die composed of a high temperature, high strength superalloy to produce a metal part having a density of 99+% of theoretical density. The preform is formed from a prealloyed metal powder blended with graphite and a lubricant, compacted to a density in the range of 70 to 80% of theoretical density, and heat treated for oxide reduction and solutioning of the graphite therein. The preform must be rapidly transferred from the heat treatment operation to the preheated forming die to minimize reoxidation and cooling of the preform.
