A closure for the fluid end of a reciprocating pump which uses a closure plate or assembly that is secured in a slot formed in the fluid end body so that no retaining threads must be formed in the body.

A thermoformed reverse buckling polymer rupture disk having an unsupported raised center portion including score lines cut in the polymer disk that creates a line of weakness to control the buckling pressure of the disk and forms a predetermined burst pattern.

A polymer rupture disk in the form of a cartridge or capsule that can be inserted in a fluid line fixture as a replaceable unit to establish a predetermined rupture pressure or safety pressure for that particular pressurized container.

Self-contained rupture disk cartridge

A pressure sensor assembly includes a disk entirely of metal and having a plurality of circumferentially spaced petals, separated by a plurality of radially extending slots. The slots extend from the periphery of the disk to a position near the center. However, the disks are in electrical communication with one another. A pair of wire leads are respectively placed at terminals on two separate spaced-apart disks with the opposite end portion of the leads connected to an alarm monitor. The disk body can be used in low or high temperature applications and is corrosion resistant and preferably entirely metallic (for example, stainless steel). The disk body is designed to be installed between standard pipe flanges, between a flange and a rupture disk holder, or in a holder that is used as, or located downstream of, a rupture disk or similar device. The device is designed to cause a discontinuity (open circuit) in an electrical circuit as a result of fluid flow through the pipe. When a rupture disk or similar device bursts or a valve leaks, the resulting pressure charge will rupture (tear) the subject burst sensor creating an open circuit. The device may be of any metal with electrical conductivity compatible with an alarm system that is commercially available. The device may be domed and self-supporting. The all-metal sensor, and nonmetallic gasket provide an assembly that is more rugged, reliable, and economical than current designs and is reliable over a large range of temperatures. The apparatus of the present invention is nonfragmenting, which permits use under valves and applications where fragmentation presents a problem.

Flow and pressure sensor

A 'slip-joint' type of sensor having a tab design consisting of a unique shape which permits easy manufacture, low resistance to sliding forces, and reliable electrical contact. The unique switch or tab and body design provides positive electrical contact without the need for costly, full diameter, annular sheet metal rings. The sensor body lies in a single common plane and may have a variety of shapes depending on the flow rate to be permitted without tripping the sensor. The sensor may be hermetically sealed by a thin-film polymer liner to permit no flow through the sensor without a signal. The liner may be on either or both sides of the sensor. This design permits use of the liner designed to withstand a static pressure without bursting. At the static pressure, however, the liner will be deformed sufficiently to trip the sensor.

Differential pressure flow sensor

A rupture disk with an annular flange that permits the disk to be clamped in place in a pressure system between an outlet holder and an inlet holder. The rupture disk is characterized by an eccentric score line formed on its annular flange radially outwardly beyond the dome of the rupture disk. A spacer and support ring are utilized to assist in the removal of that portion of the annular flange of the disk which ruptures from between the outlet holder and inlet holder.

The invention disclosed herein relates to a check valve clapper hanger mechanism from which a check valve clapper may be rotatably suspended in a check valve housing. The check valve clapper hanger mechanism is easily removable from the check valve housing and is capable of maintaining proper alignment of the clapper during normal operation of the check valve.

Structure supporting apparatus which for a particular nominal size can be interchangeably sealingly clamped and centered between bolted flanges of varying pressure rating and design standard. The apparatus includes at least one support member having opposite parallel sides for sealingly engaging the seating surfaces of the flanges, a centrally positioned opening extending through the member and through the sides thereof for positioning structure supported thereby in alignment with the flow passageways in the flanges, the periphery of the support member being substantially square shape and including a pair of spaced apart recesses disposed in each of the four sides forming the substantially square shaped periphery thereof.

Apparatus for supporting structure between bolted flanges

The invention disclosed herein relates to a check valve actuator for opening and closing a check valve, utilizing system pressure. The check valve actuator is comprised of a piston connected to a clapper assembly by a connecting rod. The piston is slideably received in a piston cylinder containing a control valve and a latching stem. A protective cage and a protective cover are mounted over the piston cylinder.

A safety pressure relief device including a rupture disk having a concave-convex portion and a radially outer flange portion joined by a curved transition connection. An improved knife means is located adjacent the concave side of said rupture disk, said knife means including a radially outer flange portion which supports said curved transition connection. A substantially circular inner opening is disposed in said knife means. Said knife means includes first and second spaced cutting means projecting radially inward into said opening and inclined towards said concave portion of said rupture disk. Said knife means further includes first and second arcuate non-cutting portions each partially defining said inner opening. The first cutting means is located between said first and second non-cutting portions so that upon reversal of said rupture disk said first and second cutting means will puncture said rupture disk without severing a portion of the disk therefrom.

Safety pressure relief device

The present invention relates to a safety pressure relief apparatus comprised of a reverse buckling rupture disk having a concave-convex portion connected to an annular flat flange portion by a curved transition connection and a support member having an annular flat flange portion for engaging the annular flat flange portion of the rupture disk and for supporting the transition connection thereof. The support member includes a partially circular cutting edge positioned interiorly of the transition connection and forming, in conjunction with a non-cutting interior edge, an opening in the support member so that when the concave-convex portion of the rupture disk reverses itself, the cutting edge partially severs the disk whereby a portion thereof bends about an unsevered hinge portion and passes through the opening in the support member. The hinge portion of the rupture disk is supported by the non-cutting interior edge of the support member. An improved serrated cutting edge is included having rounded notches between adjacent teeth thereby providing a cutting edge with fewer stronger teeth extending a shorter distance so that the available flow area through the opening in the support member is increased.
