A low profile heat-sealable adsorbent filter for ostomy appliances is provided. The filter comprises a heat-sealable microporous film layer, a filter layer of melt-blown microfibers loaded with adsorbent particles and a cover layer. The microporous film layer provides for rapid release of flatus or other gas in having a Gurley value of less than about 100 seconds/50 cc. The melt-blown microfiber filter web has an estimated service life of about 3 days or more with a web basis weight of about 700 grams/m.sup.2 or less. The low profile filter can be sealed to the outside face of an ostomy appliance with a perimeter seal to provide a filter with no liquid or gas by-pass and no liquid by-pass through the filter.

Low profile ostomy filter

A ribbon cable or discrete wires, having a layer of thermally stable, crush resistant, fibril microporous heat sealable thermoplastic crystallizable polymer dielectric surrounding said conductor. The thermoplastic dielectric having a void volume in excess of 70%, a propagation velocity of the insulated conductor greater than 85% the propagation velocity in air and the crush resistance being the recovery rate of the material after being under a 500 gram weight for 10 minutes greater than 92% of the initial thickness.

Mass terminable cable

Durable, specularly reflective mirrors for solar reflectors or fluorescent lamp fixtures are formed by vapor-depositing silver on a polyester film and protectively covering it with a coating of transparent acrylate polymer containing a silver corrosion inhibitor such as glycol dimercaptoacetate. In a preferred embodiment a pressure-sensitive mounting adhesive is applied to the opposite face of the polyester film. Degradation of the polyester, and consequent bubbling of the adhesive, is reduced or eliminated by incorporating UV absorber in acrylate polymer that is applied as a second protective coating.

Corrosion-resistant silver mirror

Solar reflector comprising an opaque, specular metalized polymeric foil protected from corrosion and weathering by a layer of an interpolymer of (1) lower acrylate and/or methacrylate monomers and (2) minor amounts of ethylenically unsaturated lower carboxylic acid monomers.

Weatherable solar reflector

An audio-visual system for providing correlated audio and visual presentations from audio-visual slides in a sequence corresponding to a branched learning format. Upon an operator selecting a presented response choice, a projected program containing first indicia providing a binary number indicating the number of steps and second indicia indicating the direction which the slide magazine should be stepped to be in position for presenting the next slide, is sensed and the binary number is stored in a register. The magazine is stepped in the indicated direction; and the number of steps taken are counted and compared to the binary number stored in the register. When the compared counts are equal, the stepping of the magazine is stopped.
